Re: BTC in the PP

Modern headrests have greatly reduced whiplash in car accidents. EXCEPT for some reason GM vehicles (at least Suburbans/Tahoes) don't have them in their middle seats. Middle rear: no headrest. Middle middle: no headrest. I recently saw a Suburban with a front-row bench seat. Middle front: no headre...

Re: BTC in the PP

I wish I had been smart enough to buy BTC every time it got pummeled in the past. Indeed. It's gone down so much that I'm thinking of buying back in. Not at the same magnitude I did before (like 80%+ of net worth), but enough to have a bit of skin in the game. i have bitcoin as just 1 to 1.25% of t...

Re: BTC in the PP

well bitcoin is no digital gold that’s for sure . it’s been pummeled . i guess the kiss of death is when you see etfs for a specific asset come out in droves . i rebought it again and i am down about 20% but its only a bit over 1% of assets so i will just let it sit indefinitely in ibit the ones lea...

Re: Long Treasurys

Yes, the kicker is that we could experience short or longer term deflation, which would shake the world. Although, we (including me) all assume that they will create money to prevent that. Ultimately leading to persistent double digit inflation. Honestly I have found it more productive to not try t...

Re: 💼 Cash Management in HB-PP: To Rebalance or Not? 🔄

if you read tyler’s take on them they are not guaranteed to beat inflation because of how they work and in fact it was almost a coin toss as to whether they beat inflation. the base base rate is set by a guess as far as future inflation. as guesses go they only guessed right about half the time if t...

Re: Balancing Gains and Losses Every Year to Eliminate Capital Gains Tax in the Long Run

absolutely timing matters . we delayed selling something one year and they raised the capital gain tax from 15% to 23.5% on that level gain . it was 20% plus the surcharge on investments it was a crazy extra amount of taxes . tax loss harvesting is a double edged sword . you really are just kicking ...

after a while it’s like trying to be a little bit pregnant . if you aren’t following the portfolio as designed then you can do as you like . that’s a call no one else can make for you . most who are waiting for that proverbial fall in stocks gave up so much over the years they won’t ever get back to...

Re: 💼 Cash Management in HB-PP: To Rebalance or Not? 🔄

if you are holding long term bonds then the cash represents the other half of the barbel, that brings down the volatility and duration of the long term bonds
