Re: Another one for the "conventional wisdom" B.S. list: Circumcision
My father was born in 1924 and was not circumcised. He made sure that I was cut soon after my birth in the 50's. I respect my fathers opinion and I'm sure he had good reasons for his decision. Now, I'm about to become a grandfather and my daughter told me last week that my soon to be born grandson ...

I see PERM has an expense ratio of .49. Does that include the expenses of the underlying ETF's or in addition to?

MT,
My 35 year old nephew passed all three CFA exams the first time. It cost him his marriage. Be careful out there!

Skyler looks a little different to me in Season 4. Her face looks a little puffier and maybe some weight gain.

Re: How Many Here Use Facebook?
MT, you may not use texting now but you probably will when your kids get older. We have four kids, all in their 20's and scattered all over the nation. About 90% of our communication is thru txting- it works great. We're all on the same Verizon phone plan. The kids are all on Facebook and have ma...

Re: Canadian Couch Potato Interview
I'm puzzled why none of the investment companies have come up with a PP mutual fund utilizing some ETF's. The ETF's would cost, what maybe 30 bps, you charge 1 percent and no manager costs.....and the strategy has already been proven to work.

Re: Cash Value Life Insurance
I think you'll be okay. I congratulate you for buying insurance at your age. Generally, I think it makes sense not to mix insurance with investing although the advantage is that your policy is "forcing" you to save $2,000 yearly. As MT has noted before, the Roth IRA (with it's internal...

Re: Cash Value Life Insurance
Moda, A few questions; How old were you when you bought the policy ? You said you've paid $6,000 in premiums so far. What is the cash value now ? Have you called the agent or the insurance company and asked what the "surrender charges" would be if you wanted out of the contract ? Why did ...

They listen to your conversations with your spouse about bills to pay, they watch you shop for groceries and clothes and how you look for value, they watch you at the restaurant with tipping, they already know wh...

I'd be inclined to put the $20,000 into PRPFX and be done with it. If she had $200,000, then I could justify a 4x25%.

Re: Viewing the PP as an Annuity
Why settle for a 4% withdrawal rate when one could purchase an annuity with a guaranteed withdrawal rate of 6% or annuitize and get maybe 7-9% (assuming you were in your late 60's, early 70's) ?? (geez, I sound like a salesman) MT, would you put your mother's money in a PP and let her withdraw 6%??...
