The Covid and Biden hoaxes ...
...
I've met two people on this forum who know firsthand that Covid is not a hoax.
Covid itself is not a hoax.
What is a hoax is the claim that it is so uniquely deadly that all of our civil rights must be suspended until it is completely gone.

Re: It's long past time that we had common-sense bat control!

Maybe you should copy the laws from "Danistan" (Victoria) ::) Ban cricket bats..... Thats not very British. https://www.legalaid.vic.gov.au/find-legal-answers/criminal-offences/carrying-weapons Wow... They specifically ban self-defense? Why would that be? I can't think of a valid reason, but then I...

Re: Why are people flocking to FL and TX? Are they idiots?

My question is where will they flock when all the transplants fleeing NY NJ CA IL vote FL & TX blue and then don't want to live in the mess they created? What's that old saying about lying in the bed you made? ::) During about the last 30 years, Texas has picked up hundreds of thousands of people f...

Re: Wealth Transfers

Thanks Tom, If I am understanding you correctly, gold reserves are not mandatory "but" it gives a country options it wouldn't otherwise have . Correct, they aren’t mandatory in the sense of something like a state making a law banning alcohol sales or dental practice on a certain day of the week, bu...

=True, but that could change at any time. On very short notice. If that were to happen, what do you predict will take it's place as a medium of exchange? I assume whatever substitute will need to be available on very short notice. In the early 2000's I did a lot of work at Mt. Weather, VA . Pre FEM...

Re: How Do You Balance Work And Leisure?

Here's another obvious tip: bring your lunch to work every day. Wasting most of your lunch break going somewhere to get food and/or paying for lunch (and delivery) is a fools game. I read this advice all of the time in my teens and 20s as I studied bogleheads and frugalism. What I realized in my 30...

Re: Wealth Transfers

Dollars are not wealth. Our property, capital goods, consumable goods, homes etc. are wealth. Our time is what we use to create more wealth. By giving other people dollars, the government gives them a claim on our wealth. Hmmm... On giving that some thought, I would suggest the dollar gives a claim...

That sign is evidence that if you have a high school aged child, you should really think twice before sending them to college unless it's absolutely necessary. If a STEM degree becomes leftified, we are doomed as a society. >:( Don't worry about STEM graduates from Bryn Mawr. They're mostly English...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

My main point was that it appalls me to read a professional writer using these same pet phrases that too many people adopt when far more descriptive words can be used rather the pet phrases (which are always annoying to me and I give you full permission to call me out whenever I use one of them. My...

There is a common refrain that if you haven't achieved genius by the age of 30, you will never do so.

I don't believe that is true. It should be "If you haven't achieved genius by the time you are in a committed relationship, you will never do so."
I guess I'm hosed then. :-)

Re: Member requests banning and removal of all traces

While I agree with you Xan, and acknowledge that something probably needed to be done, I would point out that a 4 hour/post limit is tantamount to a complete ban. I don't think that's true, it just requires some extra thought and planning. My first choice actually was to have the 4 hour/post rule a...

I was thinking which industry has most vested interest in getting covid mortality correct without the virtue signal. Life insurance. An objective appraisal of his performance could not but conclude that he has been the greatest US President in our history so far.
And maybe ever, if the current unpleasantness does not have a miraculous ending.

Yeah, all these -isms are born of the same strain of simplistic, purity-minded thinking that if we all got back to the ONE SINGLE THING that's the most important thing evarrrrrrr, then we'd have brought about the utopia. Communism denies the value of anything other than collective solidarity Capita...

Nah, I don't feel like the basic idea can be salvaged. And because I don't believe in the goal anymore, I don't feel comfortable being a part of helping somebody else achieve that goal. Also, a lot of it is frankly a bit embarrassing for me to read today. So many headstrong and unsupported assertio...

Re: Wealth inequality

My perception is that there are a lot of theoretically minded people here who don't put much stock in empirical historical evidence when it contradicts their "logical" theories. You know it's funny... Years ago when I was a hard AnCap, I started writing a book about how a totally 100% non-governmen...
