Re: Occupied Land acknowledgements

When did acknowledging that your institution is on “Located on Occupied and Unceeded XYZ Ancestral Homelands” become a thing? Is it anything other than empty virtue signaling? I have yet to encounter this. What are examples of this? There are no examples of this. It doesn't exist, just like DEI doe...

When did acknowledging that your institution is on “Located on Occupied and Unceeded XYZ Ancestral Homelands” become a thing? Is it anything other than empty virtue signaling? Re: Should ESG Investing Be Criminalized?

I'm not sure criminalized is the right word. It's fine to advertise your fund as ESG and then invest accordingly, since investors know what they are signing up for. OTOH, any fund that is not specifically listed as using ESG as a criteria should have no other purpose than to maximize profits for inv...

Dean Phillips is a non-starter as long as he continues to be a proponent of DEI (aka reverse racism).

Ya, Vinny, I know you don't believe it exists, even after the whole Harvard scandal.

Re: The Red State Brain Drain Isn’t Coming. It’s Happening Right Now.

I believe the thrust of the article was that blue states have higher life expectancy than red ones. Any disputing that? No, but I dispute that simply moving from blue to red will shorten your life somehow. That's nonsense. Furthermore, I think that instead of citing "wealth and education" it cites ...

I don't think doing abortions in the 9th month is OK at all, but think about this: 1. Mother-to-be presents in the emergency department with a severe emergency in the 9th month I specifically referred to elective abortions in the ninth month. If the health of the mother is at stake, that should be ...

Seems to be an accurate assertion. However, the concluding paragraph from below states: "Still, the overall trends are clear. People living in blue states – by and large – tend to live longer, healthier and wealthier lives." https://theconversation.com/americans-are-increasingly-moving-to-red-repub...

My real issue is with the exceptions. I think those who argue that the progeny of a rapist deserves to be brought into the world by means of the body of the victim are excessively cruel. Such a stance assigns zero value, zero meaning for what it's like to be the victim of a sexual assault, and to h...

Who would want to do an OB/GYN residency in Houston as compared to Chicago? I would. And if the migration stats between states are any indication, so would a majority of those prone to move. Do you think allowing elective abortion in the ninth month like CO does is a better plan? Both sides are com...

D. Is there any proof that tilting an ETF to ostensibly "conservative" or "liberal" companies actually works? Who cares if it works. Maybe some people would just rather invest in companies that share their same values and not invest in companies that "hate them". As long as the return is comparable...

That is a fair point. And the free market IS penalizing Disney. Their movies are bombing and park attendance is way down YOY. Same with Bud Light and Target. But it's not so simple. If I want to not buy stock in Disney or Target bc I don't agree with their "values", that means I can't buy any index...

Privately held businesses can do what they want (at their own peril), but public corporations should absolutely stay out of politics and remain neutral on social/cultural issues. You literally offend half the country when you don't. In my view, it is also a lapse of fiduciary responsibility to shar...

The 4 people who listen to Adams need to post more.
Maybe if "they" could expect an intelligent discourse from their posts, they would.

Re: Schwab's Liz Ann Sonders Says The 'Fed Put' Looks Dead

Something else is going on there. I can't find any information online explaining how Stanford's endowment managed to double in just one year. Either the fund managers took a huge risk and won big, or one or more entities made massive, unprecedented donations to the endowment over the past year. If ...

The church's representative said something to the effect that they are holding on to it so the resources will be available for the Second Coming.
Also curious. If/when there is a second coming, I doubt you're gonna need cash.

I dunno if these numbers are true, that Stanfords endowment went from 30 billion in 2020 to 75B, but in any event it explains the glee with which universities forced the jabs into 18 year olds https://www.visualcapitalist.com/worlds-top-endowment-funds/ Not sure I follow. I assumed that since the j...

Interesting. I was under the impression that Vanguard and Blackrock were the most egregious ESG proponents. If that grading table is accurate, this is indeed good news. Profits for shareholders should be their main focus, nothing else. Except that by (for example) not encouraging, say, a fossil fue...
