Re: IMPORTANT: Use www.gyroscopicinvesting.com

Does it make sense to cash out with a 13% YTD taxable account based on the fact that historically the HBPP seldom yields over 13%. I am happy with 13% but I would pay a huge tax if I cashed out. I am retired and in the PP for the long run so I would have to buy back in Jan 2017. This means I would ...

After reading Morningstar ,I believe the NAV  of CEF corellates with the PRICE of SlV and Gld but the PRICE of CEF varies according to the Discount or premium that buyers and sellers of CEF will accept.

Re: What's your favorite VP Fund?

Has anyone had any sucess implementing  the AAII Model Shadow Stock Portfolio ?  They claim a 16.9% return for the last 20 yrs. vs a S&P 500 of 8.5%. as of 2/29/13.  It may be difficult to find the right stocks and the buy and sell times , but it looks feasible. Comments would be appreciated.  Thx.

Re: Rebalancing triggered?

I aim for 15/35 but jumped the gun with VTI at 32 so I could harvest gold losses in a taxable account on 4/15/13.  I sold Zroz and iau and bought GLD to 25% [O.K. with the Irs?]with this plus Vti>25% that I sold..  I also bought some SHY with the VTI>25%. This was my first rebal in 1 1/2 yrs and my ...

One possibility;
35% VTIx 16.4=5.74
15% shy x .3    =.05
30% TLT x3,3  = .99
20% gld x 7.0  =1.4
  Total      8.18%

A practical way to fix the Housing Market.

There are thousands and with a little encouragement there would be hundreds of thousands of Americans ,most with jobs, that would be willing to buy, fix up ,live in , rent or sell  if financing was available.  Since most have full time jobs they would be hiring workers for fix up and renting or sell...

Re: Past Returns data

Thx Craig &Stone, With some more thought I believe the 9.7% CAGR of the combination is > any or the avg of the 4 component CAGR's because it's returns for the 37 yrs are less volatile than any of the component's returns. Annual rebalancing also contributed to the higher CAGR. I am retired and as of ...

Re: Past Returns data

The 9.7% CAGR does not look accurate when the Tsm ,st treas, ltand gold CAGR's are9.3,7.5,9.0 and 8.4?
However, if $10,000 turned into $317,220 in 37 yrs then 9.7% is correct and9.7 is less than the arithmetic avg of 10.96 which also indicates it is correct.

Re: What's Your Current 4 Way Split? December 2011

I recently got a pp with a equal 25% split. I believe I should  instead have 31.5 SHY, 19.75EDV,28.75VTI and 20GLD since some gains are high and some low. A 2 yr Yahoo chart shows a 2% gain for shy,50EDV,15VTI and 49GLD for an avg ~29%. Therefor SHY should be increased 27%,EDV-21%,VTI+15%and GLD -20...

Recommend 100% PP portfolio in drawdown [retirement]?

Does everyone on thus forum and Harry Brown recommend a 100% PP in drawdown [retirement]? I have no desire for a VP. Will I have all my eggs in one basket or is the allocation and diversification of the HBPP or PRPFX about as good as you can get with a reasonably low risk? Would Harry Brown recommen...
