Re: Suggestions for finding disinfecting wipes, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.?

My dad, WWII vet, used to tell me a story that I was never quite sure if it were really true. He showed me how to use one square of TP. Fold in half, then in half again. Tear a small piece off the inside corner of the folded paper. Unfold. Place middle finger through the hole, wipe butt, pull paper...

Re: Zoom meetings

We just attended our first ever Zoom wedding, perhaps 30 people or so attended. Wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. You may now click the bride The level of puns, satire, and clever repartee has increased exponentially over the last 2 weeks, just like the virus! That was a classic, DS, but I st...

Re: Zoom meetings

We've been using it daily to 'have coffee' with groups of friends and family. It's cool software for sure, and they did an update yesterday that was supposed to fix a bunch of security bugs. Not sure if it was enough. I think it is safe to use as long as the meeting requires a password.

That's fair. On your recommendation, I will give Bing a try for a few weeks. I will say that I have tried DDG and Startpage for privacy, and found them both to be inferior to Google.

Re: Suggestions for finding disinfecting wipes, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.?

Interesting article in the NY Times this morning: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/03/opinion/toilet-paper-hoarding-bidets.html The especially good part: Before paper was invented, or readily available, people used leaves, seashells, fur pelts and corn cobs. The ancient Greeks and Romans used small ...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

Do you know the English actor Lawrence Fox? I used to watch him on a detective show on public TV. Now he’s more famous (on twitter) for stating how he refuses to date woke women. I believe he’s a single father. He said it succinctly. Something like, If you believe from the outset that you’re the vi...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

That is the BEST fatherly advice I have EVER heard. You guys are smart, fact based people. If you enter into a legal contract (marriage) knowing that the law favors women and that you have a 60+% chance of the marriage ending before death, why would you not want legal and financial protection again...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

53 years in May. Dated 5 years before marriage and were classmates 5 years prior to our first date. We know each other quite well! And, we still like and love each other. 8) 22 years for me in a wonderful second marriage (my first wasn't that great :P). Wow, you guys are really something. My parent...

Denninger’s latest plan to reopen. Comments?

Reopen NOW. Here’s How.
Everything he says makes tremendous sense. So, you can forget about the government enacting any of it.

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

This is the part that always angers me, not just in the CV world. Why don't people who smoke or are morbidly obese pay more for health insurance? My employer self-insures and provides a discount on insurance and a financial incentive for avoiding several risk factors which include tobacco use and o...
