Re: Real Assets vs. Financial Assets

That chart in the link was very interesting. I think the one aberration would be real estate. I know for my market, along with other large coastal cities, prices are inflated beyond pre-great recession levels and the market is still somewhat frenzied for single family homes, where most of the homes ...

Hasta la vista, baby!

Wow, 13%! *heavy sigh*

Re: The GOLD scream room

Yeah, it's been in the dumps... It's a very hated asset. Sometimes I hate it. Not me. But that may be partly because I have enough cash to last for several years without selling any more. Maybe, but I don't need to sell any, nor have I ever sold any and I still kinda hate it sometimes. If it drops ...

Re: "On days like this there are no Republicans and Democrats"

Only on days like today? #dividedwefall Well, of course if a Democrat is shot, it's a different story: then it's all the Republicans' fault. I don't follow any party, but the stances on both sides are pretty clear: Democrats - Guns kill, see? Take away the guns! Republicans - Bad people kill! If mo...

If its invested in the PP, then "phew"! Right?
I'm most of the way through the process of going a portfolio of about 40% equities instead of 25%. I'm at about 35% right now. Once I reach 40%, that's when the crash will occur.

Re: Fearful of a Japanified stock market?

It's a worry, for sure. Rebalancing strategies should increase CAGR by quite a bit, but I'm intrigued enough to inquire about the momentum strategy being applied here. Can you link to more information? EDIT: Nevermind. I thought it looked like the Portfolio Visualizer site, so I searched around a bi...

Re: Starting in Europe, questions

"SHORT DAILY" implies this is an inverse ETF. If the STOXX 50 goes up 1% in a day, that ETF will go down 1% that day, and vice versa. You will not want to invest in any inverse or leveraged ETFs for long term. If you could provide a list of the ETFs they provide commission free, I'm sure we could he...

Re: PP as savings account

My own take is... 1) Main checking has enough to float me for a couple of months 2) Savings account with another bank has enough enough to cover another 6 months. (baby checking account with same bank for easier access) 3) Max fund Roth IRA following my own twist on Golden Butterfly 4) All excess pu...

Re: Golden Butterfly Portfolio

It's kinda fun to see how many moving parts you can remove from the machine before it stops working. It is. I've tried countless allocations on Tyler's site, just to see how they might have performed. They all kind of lead into the same direction of something very similar to PP, but with minor twea...
