Re: VP Mutual Fund Suggestions

I don't know if anyone truley understands ETFs well enough to say 'That investment vehicle makes perfect sense to me.' Re: VP Mutual Fund Suggestions

Re: Info for those interested in TIRA conversion to Roth

that sounds right to me, the price you pay for the tax free earnings is committing to the 59 + 5 for the earnings and the ability to remove your after tax contributions any time is why there is no yearly income tax write off.. in a traditional you cant remove your money (with some exceptions) in ret...

Re: Info for those interested in TIRA conversion to Roth

" You pay taxes as if you withdrew the entire amount converted, but without any penalty for early withdrawal; in return, the money will grow tax-free in the Roth IRA, and you will not pay any tax on that withdrawal if you meet the Roth IRA rules"   this is what led me to jump to that conclusion alon...

Re: Info for those interested in TIRA conversion to Roth

Re: Info for those interested in TIRA conversion to Roth

is the double taxation for the contribution or just the distributions? i thought one of the benefits of the Roth is that you can remove your contribution w/o taxation, since you pay tax at the time of conversion doesn't the entire amount of the conversion become "after tax" or a contribution? why ca...

Re: PP treasurys vs bogle head total bond index

so how does vanguard get risk numbers that are the opposite of what you are saying?
is it because they calculate diversity in the "total bond" as reducing the risk, and LT is all LT so has less diversity?

Re: PP treasurys vs bogle head total bond index

ok let me try to recap and see if i get this .. total bond is considered riskier because it has corporates which are not in a opposing asset class making there #2 (lower) risk level invalid in a PP LT treasury's  are a opposing asset class making them safer for a PP perspective  making there #3 (hig...

Permanent Portfolio treasurys vs bogle head total bond index

2) Bogleheads usually advise a total bond market fund for fixed income. Browne likes Treasuries only. 3) Bogleheads usually like to keep the fixed income maturity on the short-side (1-5 years). Browne likes to split it 50/50 between very short and long term Treasuries. This is a common question and...
