Re: Some 2020 General Election Polls
As for the DACA recipients, that is on their parents and those who encouraged them to come here illegally. Giving them amnesty will just make the problem worse. Here's the problem with anything other than deportation: I would be okay with giving them permanent residency and no path to citizenship, ...

Re: Some 2020 General Election Polls
But the only President in my lifetime who has not tried to expand his own powers but has instead told Congress and state/city executives to do their jobs is... Donald Trump. This includes but is not limited to DACA, handling the riots, and pandemic response, none of which is the job of the executiv...

Re: Some 2020 General Election Polls
Humanely speaking can you really bear to pack them all back off to a home country they can't even remember? "Humanely speaking" sets up a very slippery slope. Humanely speaking, can you really bear to let people sleep out in the cold? Humanely speaking, can you really bear to let people s...

Re: POLL: How did you overcome the fear of tracking error?
Problem is, when I did that, what freaked me out was the recent overvalued price level of TLT and SPY. This just makes me very hesitant to keep going and ignore the market noise. How do you know what's overvalued and what's not? Are you smarter than the broad market? If you think you know better th...

Do people making these statements know how insurance works - the concept of deductibles and premiums?
I heard the same thing when the looting/riots happened in the Seattle area. Like somehow no harm is done because the business owners may have insurance.

Re: What's going on with silver?
My big concern with the metals run up is that this could be the aftermath of the 2008/2009 banking crisis all over again. It seems to me that the last time there was this kind price action it was due to a fear of inflation stemming from all the QE and stimulus. When consumer price levels didn't sur...

Re: Resolved: that President Trump has praiseworthy accomplishments
How do you evaluate his handling of this virus crisis? Did he and his administration put the full force of the government behind it in terms of managing it in a logical, organized manner? Do you believe he put his personal interests LAST in all the actions he took and all he said while putting the ...

Side Note: I just got an email notification for this thread. That's the first email notification I have received for any thread I have commented on here in close to a year. Hmmm. Xan mentioned in another thread that the email daemon for the forum hadn't been running. I suspect that's what was sendi...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
I have been using this website as a key to clue me in on what to expect. But even, then, every place I go has posters up : "New Order from Governor Fulano : As of tomorrow, yada yada yada" How could I take any of this seriously, even if I wanted to believe? Thanks for posting this Mark. I...

Agree. Was just updating my spreadsheet - stocks basically flat on the year (a little down actually), but gold and treasuries are really outperforming.
Up ~12% YTD with a standard 4x25 portfolio. As I believe Kriegs said, "shit's bananas"

I just ignored this earlier as the usual Vinny troll-bait, but since it's been getting a response.... Vinny I gather you haven't been on a plane lately? Pre-COVID I mean. That's right. My recollection is that prior to 9/11, theme parks, big concerts, etc. generally didn't open people's bags and purses to search through them as they entered. After 9/11 they did. Even now, almost 20 years later, they still do. Yep, I often have to find a way to "hide" my poc...

The gist of all this is the investigation should have never happened in the first place, so he would have never done the things he did without the investigation, right? So, just curious if anyone knows -- if police had a search warrant for my house to find something particular, say a gun (are these...

If you consider yourself to be either anti-abortion or pro-life (whichever label you choose).....are you against abortion in all cases or do you have exceptions? Vinny I would think it depends on what is behind the opinion. If you're pro-life because you believe a fetus is a human being, then it lo...
