Re: Best Deal right now on Gold
I should have jumped on that - I had just purchased an a set of MS-70 1,0.5,.25,0.1 eagles. And thought I can’t do another one so quick. I should have done it. Those go for something like 15 percent premiums. Anyway keep the deals coming if you have them - both of those have been fantastic.

Renaissance Fund open to investors is laying an egg
A friend of mine has money in one of the public funds. He is down something like 12 percent this year. It's pretty funny. He said they were very defensive on the call and said this is the same model they use for their employee only closed fund but longer durations. They said for some reason the mode...

Re: Underlying ETF's used for portfoliocharts.com?
Have you been listening to the MacroVoices podcast also? It's funny because I went to Tyler's website just yesterday to see what he used for commodities. I couldn't find it either. My only gripe with Erik Townsend is that he is wrong ALOT. There is an old trick. Someone can sound like they are mimi...

Re: Underlying ETF's used for portfoliocharts.com?
Thanks Tyler. Interesting I looked up GSG. It seems like the ETF is has move into a majority T-Bills. Maybe they are waiting for a pullback to reinvest. https://www.etf.com/GSG#overview https://www.ishares.com/us/products/239757/ishares-sp-gsci-commodityindexed-trust-fund I believe that's actually ...

Re: Underlying ETF's used for portfoliocharts.com?
I am a macrovoices listener! During the crash I wanted to invest in copper and other commodities but it kind of fell of my radar. I know it's run up but it may still be a good idea long term as an inflation hedge.

Underlying ETF's used for portfoliocharts.com?
I cant find the page that shows the underlying specific funds that Tyler uses for his charts (I used to know where it was!) But anyway specifically I am looking for the commodities ETF Tyler is using in his portfolio modeling. And...If anyone here has a good suggestion for a commodities ETF would be...

Re: Hard Assets - Some Off-the-Beaten-Path Ideas
I think some of the people buying these watches are buying them to store in a safe place and seldom worn. Old ones cost more than new ones. But if you are not an expert or have money to burn, it’s probably better to avoid it.

Also just like you said - being able to physically access your gold when needed is definitely the best option (without the risk that I perceive if possible).

Re: CARES Act Withdrawal for GOLD/CASH ?
Don’t take this like I am in a battle with you because I would actually prefer to store at home if I did not have this big concern. But all it takes is for one person to other than yourself to have an idea that you may have gold stored in your house and you have lost control of that information. The...

Another alternative investment asset to consider is a high end mechanical watch. It takes some education but many of the standards hold their value some far exceed their initial price. A good example is a Rolex green Submariner.

I read Dent’s “Sale Of A Lifetime”. The book was entertaining but he lost me when he correlated market events with sunspots.

Re: CARES Act Withdrawal for GOLD/CASH ?
I heard of a case where some people broke into house tortured the husband and wife to have them open the safe they had hidden, then killed them both. Storing a potentially large amount of easily liquified untraceable wealth in your own home is very dangerous in my opinion.

Re: CARES Act Withdrawal for GOLD/CASH ?
One thing about withdrawing using the Cares act. I believe you do have to pay income tax on the distribution, just no penalty. Also my view on holding gold at home is that it’s storing a lot of potential energy at home. It could blow at any moment when the average American can’t take a $500 dollar e...

Re: David Rosenberg: Long Treasuries Are Still The Safest Asset Around
One perspective on the interest rate for long term bonds is that they compete with other asset classes. LTT prices are high when there is no good alternative in the market. If stocks, gold, or cash become better places to park / invest money LTT's will become cheaper. Incidentally, I heard that the ...

Re: PP* Portfolio
One way I look at cash in the PP is an anchor to reality. If everything gets expensive, it forces you to sell high and store the proceeds in cash. If any one of the other three assets get cheap, the rules say you should use the cash to buy the cheap assets.

Apmex Gold Spot Price Consistently Off
Just a quick observation and slight annoyance. I notice that the Apmex spot price always about consistently about 10 to 15 dollars over the actual spot (XAUUSD and some other dealers).
