Re: Vinny VS email backdaters
Do email programs give you the choice of either newest or oldest first? I have traditionally used web mail and not programs. Those are constantly updating seemlessly but I sort for newest first where I can. Now that I spend a lot of time on mobile devices, I have apps for things like protonmail, an...

from the WSJ: • A fall in real and nominal rates after an inflation report in-line with economists expectations; • A return of fears about the banking sector; • An influx of investor money into commodities, motivated in part by recently rising oil prices; and • Comments from Federal Reserve Gov. O0 We might as well also mention how Chinese automakers are eating Germany’s lunch with electric vehicles. (At the same time, there are stories about how Toyota is doing well because it never went fully electric, preferring to build hybrids. So, who knows how that’ll play out). I do remember the rum...

Re: New interview with Craig Rowland
Well, checking Portfolio Visualizer, {HBPP} lost ~1.11% - about on par with the performance of a plain vanilla 60:40. So while of course it's wrong to look at the returns of the PP's components in isolation, I think it's perfectly reasonable to point out that owning 30 year Treasuries when they're ...

Russia claims Germany is poised to attack. This is because they found a recording of German air force personnel discussing how Taurus missiles could be used in Ukraine. Germany has never given them any Taurus missiles however.

Re: New interview with Craig Rowland
… I got the feeling that his nonchalant attitude towards the PP's often lackluster performance, not to mention the disastrous LTT rout in 2022, might in part be because of both having a large enough portfolio to where even just 4-5% annual returns are OK while making real money in his business. But...

Just want to recommend a book: ‘The Identity Trap’ by Jascha Mounk.
This is about wokeness and DEI and how we got here, not about ESG investing, but seems relevant here given the last few posts.
Very good book.

Well, wiki calls it “ the first state-administered depository to be established in the United States.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Bullion_Depository I saw someone complaing about TBD (Texas Bullion Depository) on reddit, and they mentioned a private competitor. I forget the name. Texas Prec...

You may find that it’s an illusion. You probably ingest tiny quantities of alcohol all the time without realizing it.

Re: Alcohol and Nutrition
I’m not sure why it’s significant.
• I have a Muslim buddy who said he can drink non-alc beer, even with the 0.5% alcohol. It’s like vinegar.
• I doubt it would trigger joypog’s allergy.
• With regard to nutrition, I don’t know…

But Vinny, New England has a superior non-alc brewery.
They’re called Athletic.Google them.
Both the Upside Dawn and the All-out stout are very tasty.

I was reading the wiki page on author Roger Zelazny lately. He mastered all kinds of martial arts but was also a heavy smoker.

I remember him thinking out loud about the possibility of wavering on long bonds should they go lower. I asked him about it and he didn’t want to give a specific number lest anyone “blindly follow” the move. (I wasn’t going to, harumph). That was around the time that MediumTex referred to it as a ga...

I’m not exaggerating when I say that I haven’t seen a single other Asian person my entire time here. When the locals see me they often do a double take, as if I were a minor celebrity or something. Maybe you could have a role in a soap opera there, like Quagmire was “American Johnny” on the Korean ...

Also, Smith, have any locals engaged you in conversation? Maybe they heard you speaking English or you were visibly non-Ukrainian ;-) Not counting anyone selling anything; just curious people who felt like being friendly.
