I wouldn't trust Russia numbers.
But I also can easily believe they responded better to it than the US did.

Re: Trying to make sense of PRPFX performance
PRPFX has been something of a thorn in my side when I'm trying to sell people on the PP strategy. They often do Googling and point to the performance of PRPFX as a reason not to invest. I always have to remind them that PRPFX is not the true PP. That find just annoys me. So much active management a...

Re: Who's had to rebalance?
... It's been interesting to me to see a friend's "Larry" Portfolio (with 10% each SCV, EM and TSM and 70% ITT's) experiencing about half the drawdowns of the GB in the market carnage thus far ... Got me curious.... Based on VG funds, 2020 YTD (March 27): TSM : -22% SCV: -35% EM: -25% MM: +.33% (Fe...

Re: I shared fake news and feel like an idiot
Bastard (j.k) --- I shared the general concept with a good friend of mine who lives in Vancouver, BC.
(Not my friend who lives in Vancouver, WA, USA, which sometimes confused me to no end).
But it is true that it could happen in general.

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
And, I since learned that many of those in the cruise ship industry are registered under foreign flags to avoid paying U.S. taxes. Vinny Slightly off topic, but if they are doing that what does it tell you? Maybe that US taxes are too high compared to the other options? Why don't they go to the cou...

Why indeed. Bars are closed but here come the cruise ships. Makes no sense. Why was Trump always making it a point of emphasis every day that we had to help the airlines industry, the hotel industry...……….the cruise ship industry??!! I did some limited research and it seemed like the entire world w...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
Just found this suit with US numbers (didn't see it mentioned before, assuming no typos in my search):
https://covidtracking.com/us-daily/
Can download raw data if want to play with it yourself (I haven't tried / looked at that).

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
I have been trying to wrap my head around numbers, and this one (from Denninger) stood out. Why are the hospitals swamped at this level of death? Because for every coronavirus death, there are many more coronavirus hospitalizations. The hospitalizations are what’s swamping the hospitals, not just t...

I think Sophie posted recently on how long it took Gold and LTT to react in 2008/2009 crash.
It wasn't immediate.

A little on Friday from cash to stocks in my 403(b).
Debating when to do more, as I think I'm at our house to LTT / Gold bands.

Re: Trump as tragicomedy
I think the MSM is way more hostile to Republicans now than they were in 2003. For some of us they are still being way less hostile than necessary! And, you are leaving out that all the talk radio is absolutely dominated by conservatives. They are a MAJOR part of the media. What were they all sayin...

Ok, I read the article. He claims that 1% is a likely proportion of the population to be infected, but provides no evidence for that percentage as far as I could tell. Did I miss something? He doesn't claim that it is likely. It was an assumption in a scenario he was laying out: "If we assume that ...

Re: Senators Sold Stock, Sounded No Alarms
To be fair here... everyone had access to the data about the virus well in advance. Everyone had the same opportunity to act on that info and derisk before the crash. Classified briefing to senator: it's gonna suck Senator to public: nothing to worry about Senator to business leaders: prepare for t...

Moving a bit from cash to stocks tonight. Markets to really tank next week. I get part 1 because I'm about to do that too (except it'll be a true rebalance). I don't get part 2 though...you might be right of course, but how do you know? The cynic in me. If I waited, stocks would go up. :)

Has there been more interest in the PP? I haven't been active for a while, but seems like existing folks talking more. Now if the market stays down for a while and portfolio comparisons start showing PP favorably to other portfolios, then I expect to see more new people. Just my perception, anyways....

Re: Stock scream room
For anyone that has been on the fence about rebalancing, tomorrow is probably a good day to do so. It is monthly options expiration. This selloff started the very first day after Feb options expiration for a reason. Dealers were positive gamma before then, and that pinned the indexes up. This month...
