Re: It's Done!, not to confuse with I'm Done!
A warning... just added a little physical gold and silver... be ready for a continued drop next week, probably to low $1100s! If it makes anyone feel better, the coin shop dealer (a Trump supporter) was shocked at what happened, he expected what was happening during election night to persist, stocks...

Re: PP and the Election
If you look at the chart, it is interesting that except for the beginning of the year and the last few days that stocks, bonds and gold have all been pretty darn well correlated. Which is great when things go up, not so much on the way down. It is not the absolute level of drop that worries me. It i...

Re: PP and the Election
It is strange, though, that the expected flights to safety are not working as expected by any means.
My gains for the year at the peak are now fully cut in half.
BUT, not that I would have found anyplace else to invest.
We still have had a good year:

Re: Trump's Effect on the PP
Past couple days have seen about 3% gain shaved off. NOT liking it, but I am holding my nose and possibly averaging in a little more into gold. Trump will likely increase the debt by trying to lower taxes and other stimulus measures while at the same time saying interest rates are too low. Not at al...

Looks like we should have waited on buying gold and bonds. Oh well.
Jeez, in the past few weeks the drawdown from PP highs this year is about 7%. Sucks.
What the hell does this world have against gold, dammit!

Re: It's Done!, not to confuse with I'm Done!
I balanced out TLT, GLD, and left domestic stocks a little heavy. I am still short on international stock exposure and cash heavy, but that's ok. Anyone ever do an analysis, do interim rebalancing tweaks on big market moves help or hurt over the long haul? Should we have just waited for an annual re...

I still have about 35 minutes to decide.
Of course, if I want to be correct about it, I should sell some stock portion which is above my % target.
Tough to do either.

I use TLT. A big point for the PP that attracted me was simplicity. TLT makes it easier than buying individual bonds.

I have a slightly modified holding of 25% gold and 5% silver. So overall precious metals >25%
Interesting that gold and bonds do not like Hillary, or at least the perception that uncertainty has been removed. I would imagine she will continue to be hounded if she wins.

Re: Solar and wind are the future
I don't know how or when it will be truly feasible, but a few satellites up in orbit with miles of solar panels transmitting microwave power down to a receiving station could be the future. Sun always up, no clouds. http://spacejournal.ohio.edu/issue18/cast.html And it got into my mind after reading...

I'm sure a lot of you already read Scott Adams on this stuff, but here is a great entry on possibly why Comey has done/is doing what he is doing:

Re: Healthcare discussion from Pointedstick's "I'm Free" thread
I think in the next 10-20 years there will be some amazing breakthroughs, which may not necessarily extend life, but make it better to the end. Cures or management of Alzheimer's, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc. -- some are already well underway. At some point I am sure we'll be able to unlock...

Re: NBC/FOX Appear To Commit Blatant Polling Fraud
It seems the kitchen sink is being thrown at Trump at this point. Now we have octopus level groping. There's going to be a slow drip of these stories for the next month while the generally more boring, but important, Wikileaks stuff will get much less coverage unless there's a bombshell waiting. I w...

Re: NBC/FOX Appear To Commit Blatant Polling Fraud
The final Economist poll for Brexit before the voting had Remain at 44, Leave at 44 and Undecided at 6. I don't really understand that, so I would say it should have been 44/44/12. Brexit finished 48.1% remain, 51.9% leave, with leave winning by about 1.3 million votes in the end. Felt like a landsl...

Re: NBC/FOX Appear To Commit Blatant Polling Fraud
I disagree. I think with the lack of Trump becoming presidential and instead taking the shackles off and a scorched earth policy, I think a lot of people on the fence are pissed off enough to say "why not!" and will vote Trump. Either way, I don't think it will be close. My theory will hap...

Funny thing is this could easily backfire. Lull Clinton voters into complacency, and fire up Trump ones because of the conflict of interest.

I thought it was a sad commentary that this is the best that the greatest nation on earth can put forward for candidates.
It was entertaining though. Bread and circuses I guess.

Can someone hold my hand now? Just like those great all assets in PP up days, I suppose there needs to be all assets down days. But as usual, the most frustrating one is gold. Gold's probably useful for what, the 5% of the time that confidence is loss in government? Why be frustrated over a low pro...

Re: The GOLD scream room
I don't pretend to know how it works, but the dollar is up 0.4% and gold is down over 3%. Certainly never 1:1 when this happens. And silver always goes in lockstep. When they want to pound on gold is is pounded into dust, and rarely is the stock or bond market hit with such force with such regularity.

It is funny, not necessarily manipulation, but interesting that all these waterfalls seem to happen at specific times of the day.
