Re: 20% annual returns over 40 years...interested?

I understand futures in general but have no experience with them. I'd be interested in seeing a play by play for any paper trades you do to understand the mechanics involved

Re: MachineGhost's Research Resort

As my final post before the world-as-we-know-it ends, I thought it was fitting to announce that I was finally able to crack the rebalancing bands issue and backtest for the optimal thresholds to use. <drum roll> The optimal rebalancing bands are 12%-13% on a end of year basis. That means rebalancin...

Re: 20% annual returns over 40 years...interested?

That's amazing. There's still counterparty risk, of course, but I see why it's relatively insignificant

How do futures contracts eliminate counterparty risk? What happens if there is a breach of contract?

Re: Things about the PP that do not make sense to me

Others have proposed allocations based on duration or volatility, but I think they are still fairly close to the 4x25. I personally agree the PP is slightly skewed towards outperformance in bad times, but you have to remember that HB considered your salary to be the number one wealth generator. So i...

Re: 20% annual returns over 40 years...interested?

Yeah, I understand the value of cash. Right now I'm only doing this 2x PP as a small percentage of my portfolio anyways. But if I had 75% cash I would be tempted to overleverage

Re: 20% annual returns over 40 years...interested?

since it's a 3x daily fund, does the intraday really matter (any more than a 1x fund)? I like the idea of a 1x PP with 3x ETFs, but I'm not sure I could sit on all that cash. Right now, I sit on 50% cash (so a 2x total exposure) and even with that I'm thinking "man, if only I had that 50% invested!"

Re: The GOLD scream room

Not to dampen the enthusiasm, but since I went all in with the PP about 7 years ago, the only sector that's still in the red is gold. I'm very happy that it's rising, of course, but it's still 2% below the break even point. Did you at least hit a rebalance? I've been accumilulatig the lagging asset...

Re: Sprott Intends to Make Exchange Offers for Central GoldTrust and Silver Bullion

Earlier, I sold some phys and picked up CEF for tax loss harvesting. I've had it more than a month, but held on because it was performing fine and had a decent discount to NAV. Recently, the discount has closed by a few percent (still no premium). Should I just switch back? During brexit, it lagged ...

Re: 20% annual returns over 40 years...interested?

Man I hope I hit a rebalance band soon. It's getting up there, but all the volatile assets are up a similar amount since my last rebalance. Likely "cash" will hit the lower band if these trends continue

Re: Racial Profiling and Mass Discrimination Now Legal

"if you fail to pay bail or appear for court, a judge will issue a warrant to render you “arrestable on sight” in the future." Well, yeah. This is a bad thing? Over a traffic ticket or other minorly revenue generators? Of course, you think people should be able to skip their court dates because the...
