Re: Why should I buy Treasuries now?
The Fed controls short term rates but the marketplace controls long term bond rates . People have been saying rates have to go up from here for several years. It's conceivable short term rates could rise without much of any change in long term rates. John I guess that's the point I was looking for ...

Why should I buy Treasuries now?
I'm not an expert in bonds and feel that I might not understand the different aspects of bonds behavior in response to various economy moves. I've read the Bonds FAQ and understand that LT Treasuries suffer the most when interest rates go up. Now that the Fed rate is essentially zero it's clear that...

The benefit of enrolling in the DRIP at a brokerage/mutual fund company is you can have the shares bought automatically with no c...
Re: EDV?
EDV offers 1.5 times the volatility of TLT. I wouldn't commit the entire LT treasury piece of the PP to EDV (that might produce TOO much volatility relative to the other PP assets), but I own some and I like the protection it offers when everything else goes haywire. MediumTex, could you elaborate ...

Building bonds portion in a real world
The previous thread touched a bit various possibilities of investment vehicles for the bonds portion of PP and, inspired by that, I'd like to discuss a practical question: how could the bonds portion be constructed in a real world of limited investment choices? As far as PP is concerned, my 401(k) o...

Re: Free Brokerage For the Stock Portion?
Well, transfer it then. The problem with your argument is this: any brokerage can change its fees at any time, therefore you should never open any account because the fees can be changed to something unreasonable. I second that. I have my IRAs in Fido and so far never had any issues with them. I t...

Re: Are the PRPFX holdings audited?
If I recall correctly, Browne was one of the founders of PRPFX in 1982 and invested some of his money in the fund.
