Re: A worthwhile read for all PP'ers

Bitcoin will go down in history as the biggest Ponzi Mania of all time IMO. Do you realize how many naysayers have bashed the HBPP since inception and they always start with the "I like the PP. BUT..." The only thing that I worry about with regard to my HBPP is that these central planning ...

More likely IMO (cue Dr. Lacy Hunt) that we have disinflation or outright deflation because of debt, demographics and M2 money velocity decreasing and not staying constant, or increasing like the 70's. This is a very different animal. You can read Dr. Hunt's Quarterly Report on Hoisington for free ...

Still keeping a plain vanilla HBPP though.

Emerging does well proportionate to both increasing growth & increasing inflation.

Just started implementing PP strategy.  Thanks for the feedback. Instead of plunking a huge amount of $ into TLT and IAU at one time, wouldn't it make sense to buy on dips or dollar avg cost into each investment? It's a bit like a parachute jump my friend. ;) If dollar cost averaging worked better ...

Re: Most Secure Way to Reasonable Hold PP Assets??

Here's my opinions for portfolios up to about $5M. Gold - physical coins, insured, kept in a safe deposit box (multiple boxes at different banks).  If banks stop allowing gold in safe deposit boxes then gold is an issue.  IMO, home storage even in a safe cemented to the floor is crazy.  I haven't l...

Has it already happened? It seems that our elections are stolen, the media is Pravda, and the DOJ/FBI/CIA/NSA are all politicized. Is all lost? No, we're not living under Communism, but we are living in a neo fascist economy (and have been for quite some time) & and you're starting to see the p...

Re: Most Secure Way to Reasonable Hold PP Assets??

Stock - low cost mutual fund (not ETF) What's your reasoning for preferring mutual funds over ETFs? Mutual funds have fewer moving parts, and specifically their pricing mechanism is simpler.  The price of a mutual fund is the daily NAV.  The price of an ETF is whatever anyone is willing to pay for ...

Pinwheel is for Pinheads >:D Seriously, it might be a great portfolio. It might beat everything else going forward for the next two decades, or longer. You just have to do your own due diligence and stick to a portfolio through thick and thin, but in order to do this, you have to have faith in your ...

People collecting social security just got a 6% increase in what they get because inflation is so high ….it is the highest increase in decades . Zero on cash instruments, 1.6% on the ten year and 2% on the 30 year says things are not reflecting inflation by a lot … The commodities market is soaring...

I meant to not bet on any one Asset Class disproportionately. If there was ever a time for holding one's core assets in a PP, or a PP like portfolio, it's probably right about now.

Jakob Fugger Portfolio

One of the richest Men in all history. Lived from 1459-1525 aka "Jakob the Rich".

25% Business (Equities)
25% Gold Coin
25% RE (REITS)
25% Sovereign Debt

Sound Familiar... maybe he was HB's inspiration. Kinda like I suspect that ol' Ray Dalio got his inspiration from HB.

Hi Kevin, I appreciate the kind words. I try not to contribute anymore here as the discussions always seemed to end with people falling back on the old "you just gotta trust the system" argument. However, it is great to see you keeping your eyes open and not taking anything for granted :)...

Re: Does PP Only Work In Times of Declining Bond Yields?

So, the PP made a profit through the dramatic rate increases of the 70's. It also did well in the Japanese Deflation in comparison to other Portfolios. Also, if the FED introduces a CBDC they could conceivably take interests rates well negative. Even if we don't get a CBDC rates could still plummet ...

Very instructive and thanks to all for all the assistance. It seems that if one goes the ETF route, you don't get the duration that a straight up 30yr LTT gives you. You can tell from looking at the yield on these ETFs that they don't have as much duration, but then you don't have as much durationa...

If gold goes to a billion and you sell a coin for a billion in cash and report a billion in income to the banana republic government.......thats on you.
