Personally I think that money should be used to educate on how to invest.
Say, purchase BelangP's book, and if you can, split it 65/35 on TSM/Gold ETF as a training tool.

Re: PP YTD performance - was it the worst ever?
Given that that’s portfolio charts, I’d imagine it’s from the early 1970s to present. Touche! Couldn't fit title in with original screenshot :D Also from Portfolio Charts... Can you please explain how the Portfolio Charts heat map works? If I got to 2013 and go to the 9 year column, it says 4%. But...

Re: PP YTD performance - was it the worst ever?
Patience, patience, my friend. There's no telling where the economy is heading in the next few months. We will only know the winners and losers in the future. I, personally, would not be comfortable being 100% invested in any one asset class at this point in time. The fed is going to (I think) righ...

Re: Gold will rise when Fed stops raising interest rates?
I can sympathize with a 50/50 stock and cash portfolio as a chicken little investor. I have contemplated that exact holding in the past. I did give up on long term treasuries when I realized yields we're not worth the risk. Maybe someday they will look worth it again. I also hate gold but history i...

Still like to have a read of this site occasionally. Especially the concise "Bond Duration as leverage" article.

Re: Interesting site on the PP/Risk Parity
Thanks Tom,
Tried playing with a min variance portfolio using the Efficient Frontier on Portfolio Visualizer. Could you or any forum members explain the "Chart from origin" option? Where is the origin supposed to be?

Re: Critique Financial Planner's Plan
What really gets me is this idea of using a line of credit to finance the down payment for the new property and then mortgaging the rest of the balance. Has anyone on the forum done such a thing? A "what if" scenario... If you cannot service the loan for some reason, what happens? In Aust...
