The gold market's movements make a lot more sense when viewed through that explanatory lens.

Though what comes first (chicken vs egg) - weaker gold or stronger dollar .. In the recent case we had the weaker gold coming first (months in advance to stronger dollar, that came only recently), so it might be that's not the explanation.. My overly simplistic explanation is that following the turmoil money flows simply got back to risk-on asset classes - non-existing money pushing up ridiculous valuations, voilla

I told you when I sold and when I bought...what more do you want to know? >:

Fixed income yields also play a large role as last I checked gold doesn’t pay a dividend. Yields up, bonds attractive; yields down, gold attractive.

The recent gold decline has caused the value of my PP to fall below a leading digit threshold in my retirement account. >:( >:(

I think PP should have a small fraction of crypto. It would help when crypto skyrocketing but work as before when crypto will crash.
Added GBTC to my IRA. So far tt helps to compensate for the PP losses.
At this point I treat BTC and GBTC as part of the variable portfolio. But we might be witnessing the necessity of the PP concept change because of the completely new investment options.

Yep, we hit a new milestone before I shifted my usual portfolios over to the pp...

Now the old milestone moved up and are still above the milestone ,where as the action in Tlt and Gld now pulled us below the threshold line

I bet Harry Browne didn’t have a solution to this one.

I would really like to buy a bunch of gold tomorrow but i don’t think I’m going to be in town to take delivery. At least it’s possible that I won’t be. No way am I leaving it to the wife to receive it. It’s not that she’s flaky, but if something went wrong, I don’t think I’d get over it. O0

If she starts to get big eyes, likes the word "precious" and draws out "S" sounds, you definitely need to leave.

Promise Mark and I if that happens you will move on, will you?

I'm glad you said that. I was going to respond but I wanted to let you first respond.

I read your initial statement as saying you did not want to put her in the position of something possibly going wrong, her not handling it the same way you would.

You'd regret it if you had put her in that position and something did go wrong.

Therefore, you believed it would not be fair to her to do that.

You were casting no suspicions on her.

You merely wanted to be the one who took all the responsibility for the transaction correctly happening.

😂

You got it, Vinny!
By the same token, i have a favorite ceramic mug that I ask her not to wash, to leave it for me. (We share dishwashing duties). She wanted to know why, and I said if someone eventually breaks it, I’d rather it be me, ie be angry at myself. It may sound strange to some, but this is a philosophy and lifestyle that works for me.

I COMPLETELY understand! Some things are always best done by oneself.

You know what's funny, though? I asked her if she would feel comfortable receiving it and she said it's fine. So, maybe I'll just order. :D

I was a little confused by DS's reply, too, and had to read it a couple of times to parse it.

I think the emoji was in response to your comment, Kbg, then the "You got it, Vinny" and the rest of it was in response to Vinny's post. The confusing part was that DS quoted you but not Vinny.
