Nacho variation number 2!

This time with extra cheese, prosciutto, and cooked a few minutes longer. Way yummier than the first time (which was pretty damn good to begin with).

Swap in fake meat and I'm down. Vinny mirite

I try to keep nachos out of my diet.

Someone who is staying temporarily at my house brought home some cheese pizza the other night. I've had the discipline to not eat it. Just got his permission to put it outside for the benefit of the wild animals in my area.

Super buttery and yummy… with the commensurate calories of course. 😆

Just added a new monitor to my home office

Post by Smith1776 » Tue Sep 06, 2022 12:46 pm

I recently got a 2560 x 1440 27" display to add to my home setup (top left). When I'm sitting down to work I basically see nothing but display now.

For years I've been stuck on 1920 x 1080 for standalone monitors. Man, the extra resolution really helps. I was debating if I should go 4K, but the cost seemed prohibitive. This new monitor was $299 CAD, and has so far been a nice compromise.

I’m always down for more monitors!!!! Something to consider - try turning one vertical. I find that super hand for reading long word files or vertically oriented spreadsheets.

Oooooh dang. I didn't consider that. Alright, I'll give it a shot and see if these display mounts can be reset vertically. O0

I don’t see room for Lily! I have one monitor on my desk and an Amaazon box next to it where my cat lounges like she’s in a tub.

I am presently using four 23" monitors on this computer each at 1,920 X 1,080.

After looking at your set up I may have to replace this main one with a 27" to "Keep up with Smith!". However, I have to keep the four monitors relatively close to me so I can actually read what is on them. As it is this monitor is already overlapping the one to its left. This huge table is already overrun with four computers and six monitors on it. But you do have me thinking!

How did you go about selecting that particular model? How extensive was the search? Since I buy so much used I don't search much -- just look to see if it is a good used value then buy it. All of these computers and monitors were bought used. So now I may hit Craigslist to see what 27" monitors are selling for!

I could not tell nor did you disclose what model you bought.

Finally ................... LEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: This one looks like good value but too far from me: https://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/sop ... 60016.html

My office is on the third floor and Lily seems to prefer hanging out on the first floor. I think it's cause that's where her food bowl and bathroom are. :D

I have a couple of big empty boxes from the move though...

4 monitors??? That's impressive. I would love to have 4, if only my desk were bigger haha.

I settled on this monitor because it was the one model where I could get this high of a resolution at under $300 CAD (picked it up at walmart). There was no other monitor on the market where I could get that price to resolution ratio. Again, I'd love to have 4K, but my display budget was firm at $300. It's an Acer monitor... though I can't recall the model number. :P Sorry.

And yes, Lex Fridman! His podcast just keeps getting better and better. Between Magnus Carlsen, John Carmack, and Jordan Peterson, it's just hours of priceless insight from some of the most brilliant people on the planet.

Snapped this photo on my walk today. It really struck me how much gentrification my particular area of Vancouver has been subject to over the past 20 years. Streets full of tired looking tenements along with vagrants that looked like they were ready to snap at you at any moment. Things truly have changed.

I’m thinking about Pugchief not wanting to venture into Chicago as I read the WSJ piece on the CEO declaring a crisis. (MCD headquarters are there).

Just booked a flight for this coming Saturday to the city of Edmonton, Alberta.

Going to buy a house there. I have a budget of about $500,000. For that amount of money you can buy yourself a very decent single family home. That same 500k will barely buy you an apartment here in lower mainland BC, and it would probably be 1 bedroom at best.
