What are your primary news sources?

Post by Mountaineer » Tue Jul 21, 2020 5:58 am

NOTE: Poll modified due to input received. Sorry but you have to revote if you wish to participate.

Tech's response to my question got me thinking this might be an interesting topic for a poll.

This prompts me to wonder: Why do we on this board, a microcosm of the US, see the same facts/situation and come to such different conclusions? We seem to be smart, we seem to be relatively respectful of each other (not quite like the bigger country), and we seem to want what will be best for our children/grandkids/friends. What the hell is the primary issue? I am bumfuzzled!

Libertarian666 responded:
The primary issue is the Marxist media spewing propaganda 24/7. If all you knew was what you read in the NY Times, the Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC, you would believe that Trump is the reincarnation of Hitler. Of course this assumes that you can't think for yourself. If you do, you will eventually realize that they keep changing their indictments of him on a nearly daily basis. He's ineffective because he lets the cities burn. No, wait, he's Hitler because he sends federal officers to stop rioters from torching a federal building. Well, which is it? Either or both at the same time, depending on which they think will hurt him and his supporters. So anyone who can think for himself will realize the Marxist media are frauds and stop listening to them.

DNA has its own language (code), and language requires intelligence. There is no known mechanism by which matter can give birth to information, let alone language. It is unreasonable to believe the world could have happened by chance.

Mine is C-Span, C-Span, C-Span.......and C-Span!!!!

Try to catch Washington Journal on every morning of the year from 7 AM to 10 AM. The callers represent all points of views. Their guests - many of whom are actually in governments on all levels - also represent all points of view.

They show full events, e.g., a Trump rally, with no commentary.

Try it! You might like it!

I put "other" because I get most news from WSJ, followed by Reason magazine and occasionally will watch Youtube clips from various video sources (Fox/CNN/ABC etc). I'm not crazy about the other options lumped in with WSJ.

I love the Bee. But it's not a major source for my news. My go to sources that I tend to check daily are...

Fox News
WSJ
CNBC
The Daily Telegraph (subscriber)

and to avoid living in an ideological news bubble...

The Guardian
The New York Times (subscriber)

Me, of course. It's much more reliable than the lamestream media!

the above are the sites i respect and will fully read the articles/videos

-i have a bunch of click-bate email spam from conservative sites that i read their headlines, and occasionally speed read/skim the articles, most run 80+ % hype but its pretty easy to snag the few lines of who, what, when, where, why at a glance..
-i also have google news for left wing headlines and on the occasions when i do click.. it seems to run about 98% propaganda and trump is all bad all the time... (who? trump - why? trump bad - when? always ......)
the headlines alone are pretty hysterical...

no TV or cable-news at all..

Greg Hunter and James Corbett are definitely near the top. I recently started following the Last American Vagabond. His podcasts are lengthy, but I find his analysis pretty good.
