Flow Hive Honey on Tap Directly From Your Beehive

Very cool!  I'm tempted, but I'm sure there's some bureaucratic or HOA regulation I'd be in violation of.

I worked for a commercial beekeeper for several years while in high school (early 80's).  The Flow Hive looks really cool and would have saved us a ton of time and effort (not to mention bee stings).  We would have had more time for drinkin' beer!

DISCLAIMER:  I have never kept bees, but I've read a bunch about doing so.

I don't know about this honey tap thing.  It looks easy, but honey is, well, sticky.  I cannot imagine that this system would just be a "turn the tap and let the honey flow" system.  Beekeepers mess with bees so that they (the keepers) can assess the health of the colony, check for pests, harvest honey, make repairs, etc. etc. etc.

This system reminds me of the "brew all the beer you want in your bathtub from potato peels" kind of a thing.

And from a philosophical standpoint, this kind of de-humanizes (or de-hymenopteranizes) the bees.  Turns them into even more of a factory than they already are. Akin to the horseless carriage or the zipless f**k.

Yeah, my honeybear constantly crystalizes up.  This seems like it would work to reduce effort, but won't eliminate it.

To clarify, "it" = beekeeping, not the tap. She said that for many reasons, she won't use the tap. (She didn't specify the reasons).

I assumed the "it" was the beekeeping.  What kind of hive(s) does she use?  Top bar?  Warre?  Langstroth?  I almost set up a top-bar hive last year.  Maybe this year...or next year.

Top Bar, but until you asked I didn't know it was a kind of hive. I thought that was her joke name for her hives. She has written about Warres, so I guess she's considering them.
