Keep Supporting Your Local Restaurants
During this pandemic, restaurants -- especially small, independently owned restaurants -- and their employees are hurting. So my wife and I decided that for our favorite local sit-down restaurants, we would continue to eat there just as frequently but order take-out or delivery instead. And of course we'll tip just as if we had eaten sit-down, because otherwise the servers (who depend heavily on tips here in the U.S.) won't be making much money at all.
When I picked up our dinner at our local Cuban restaurant yesterday, I asked the server if they've been getting a lot of take-out orders this week. She said, "Yes, thanks to customers like you. Thanks so much for supporting us!" It was strange to see someone so grateful that I had simply ordered some take-out food.
Keep supporting your favorite local restaurants, people. They have plenty of food, they're ready to serve, and their employees need income. It's probably no less sanitary than shopping at a crowded grocery store with empty shelves. Might even be more sanitary.

Going "out" more than before.
Saving on gas and not going out, so kinda a wash so far $$$ wise.
And I still have a job.

All I can do is buy a gift card online for a local place that really takes care of us and doesn't even charge us for beverages.

There's a KILLER donair place down the street from my home. We should all meet there when this is over... Avengers style.

I don't need to click the link because I remember. That was the funniest.

None of them. I just love the scene. I've often thought it would be funny if, at the end of a Star Wars film or a horror film, the credits were interrupted by actors in Wookie (or monster) outfits and partying to loud music.

We ordered delivery from our local fine-dining steakhouse last night (it was our anniversary) and also got a $150 gift card to help them with cash flow. Also ordered + picked up some wine from the local wine shop today.
Trying to do our part as you say, Tortoise. Plus, it helps keep our stocks of groceries up as well (having left over steak and creamed spinach and au gratin potatoes tonight. Yum!)

Thanks! Yes, it was convenient they sent out a note they'd changed their menu and set up a delivery service given the closure of in-restaurant dining. Saved me from having to cook

Cheers, drumminj. You must have had an interesting dinner conversation this year.
You've also made me very hungry. As two people who aren't used to frozen packaged food, we were taken aback by how small our flatbread dinner was when I pulled it out of its large box tonight.
