Why should we care that Prince Charles has Covid? Does he care if someone here has it?

I guess the short answer is, I really don’t give a shit if you care or not. Does everyone have to care about everyone else’s signatures? No.
And that goes for everyone on the internet who asks “why should I care” about anything.

I have come to consider you signature line as a type of news feed, and I personally don't think PC's Covid status is news. Feel free to not give a shit what I think now or ever.

Panties are fine, Pug. But it should be noted - it’s one thing for someone to ask, “Why should i worry about Sequence of Return Risk?” or in the current parlance, “Why should I care?” To use that about a personal signature, which is ephemeral - Dude. It’s just obnoxious.

The signature can serve as a news feed, it’s true. Where do you think I got that info about Prince Charles? I got it from the news. It’s not tailored to everyone’s taste. Like the real news, it can’t possibly be all things to all people.

Speaking of German inflation (and as I am here now) - has noticed the menu stickers (the kind of transparent ones glued to the entry glass doors of restaurants) having different prices than the paper menu prices. 10-15-20% (or alike) higher in the paper menus.

Well it used to be the same price, but the paper menus are more up to date. You see, by the time you enter and reach your table, the price has gone up.

I remember when I first got into PC building (this was like 2005 or so), it was a serious faux pas amongst enthusiasts to use onboard audio. To be fair, those sound blaster cards were REALLY good at creating spatial audio.

The usual snide remark about onboard audio was "do you really want to hear data going across your USB bus when you put on your headphones?"

Amazon.com Inc. has been talking with wireless carriers about offering low-cost or possibly free nationwide mobile phone service to Prime subscribers, according to people familiar with the situation.

The company is negotiating with Verizon Communications Inc., T-Mobile US Inc. and Dish Network Corp. to get the lowest possible wholesale prices. That would let it offer Prime members wireless plans for $10 a month or possibly for free and bolster loyalty among its biggest spending customers, the people said, who requested anonymity to discuss a private matter.

The talks have been going on for six to eight weeks and have also included AT&T Inc. at times, but the plan may take several more months to launch and could be scrapped, one person said.


“We are always exploring adding even more benefits for Prime members, but don’t have plans to add wireless at this time,” Amazon spokesperson Maggie Sivon said in a statement.

T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon all said they were not currently in discussions with Amazon about wireless service. Dish declined to comment.

Hahaha. I felt like when I said ‘let this be the year of gold’ I jinxed it. Or at least, gold didn’t pick up until the very end of 2022. It was more like the week of gold or the month of gold. So for 2023, I thought I’d pick something benign and secretly hope that gold would rise. Not due to a disaster, but because of the reasons people always proffer with their predictions: excessive money printing; inflation finally made gold kick in, etc.
