I do. I think that's why Biden didn't touch it near the end. He did not want to piss off the really liberal wing. But he'll govern from the middle.sophie wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 6:34 pmDo you think for a moment that the Democrats would forget about their promises to pack the Supreme Court (to take just one example) if they had a Senate majority, just because they know it would piss off half the country?Cortopassi wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 9:15 am We currently live in a different reality, sophie. You're sounding a bit like you voted for someone you hoped Biden would turn out to be. Sorry to be the one to break the news, but he isn't. Court-packing was a near constant refrain the whole time, and I certainly never heard Biden disavow that plan.Cortopassi wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 7:27 pmI do. I've been plowing through Thomas Sowell's "Vision of the Anointed". It may have been written in 1996, but every sentence could have been written about current events. It's uncanny how applicable it is, and it does a great job of framing the mindset of politicians like Biden and Harris. They fundamentally believe they know better than the voters do about what is best for them. That's why I can't see them backing down on any part of the platform no matter what.

Let's see when he's actually president. There are things like this for example:

Maybe. AOC throwing a temper tantrum is amusing but hardly unexpected. Also don't forget, the House Democrats voted out of office were largely centrists.
Another thing to keep in mind : this isn't the Biden administration, it's Biden-Harris. Harris being part of the extreme left. As time goes on, Biden will have increasingly less influence/control, depending on the time course of his dementia. Sadly, my mother lost a lot of ground in the past two years. Two years ago she was approximately in the same place Biden is now, with recognizable symptoms but still able to hold her own due to the sheer force of her native intelligence. Today, she gets easily confused when it comes to things like timelines & numbers, asks for confirmation of the same things over and over again, gets agitated easily especially when she has to handle paperwork or online banking, and completely falls apart during group Zoom meetings. Also - between social isolation (I assume the basement policy will continue after he moves to the White House, due to fear of COVID) and the strain of being President, Biden's clinical course is likely to accelerate.
Who takes over the reins is still unclear. Let's hope it's the DNC, or maybe Jill Biden with help from administration staffers. If it's Harris, we are definitely in for an interesting ride.

This is a good read of people who've golfed with Trump demonstrating how he cheats constantly but they are all cool with it.
My comment: I guess if it's expected, and fun, doesn't hurt anybody, but just solidifies that he will go to any length to win.

Those were one of the two reasons why I quit golfing at the age of 18 over 50 years ago.Cortopassi wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 11:14 am This is a good read of people who've golfed with Trump demonstrating how he cheats constantly but they are all cool with it.

1. I was terrible at it, shooting in the 70s......in 9 holes
2. People I was playing with cheating. I counted every single one of mine. otherwise how would I have been able to reach the 70s in only 9 holes. I was not going to deny how terrible a player I was by not counting every swing.
