Oh man a Plan 9 reference! As a Unix nerd I just came across that when I was researching databases and was blown away. I continually marvel at what the Bell Labs people came up with in the 70's.

I’ve been thinking about Bell Labs a lot recently while watching ‘Severance’ on Apple TV+. Fictional show, but they use the old campus as the setting.

“The Unix Programming Environment” by Kernighan and Pike literally changed my life. I can string together a few different commands and do what other folks at my office would take at least a hundred lines of Python and several hours. And I just do it on the fly.

Need to watch Severance. Another person just told me about it as well. Also a friend of mine was at Bell Labs and saw the hallway where all these guys had offices.

Neat! I have a copy of the book for fake nostalgia reasons, but I was really late to the party.
I only had limited access to Unix in college, and I used nearly all my time for this new thing called electronic mail.

It's kind of very pity that younger folks have rarely or even never heard of those names. They think Steve Jobs is all about it

In those ancient days when I started college we only had fortran with punch cards!

If we submitted our cards early enough in the morning we could get an output later in the say telling us that this time we were missing a right parentheses.

Now that I think about it is was quite similar to the old days of doing accounting by pencil and paper wherein it'd take me 8 hours to accomplish something that now would take me less than a minute to do in Excel (after the model had been properly created).

I did have CompuServe, but I definitely don’t remember the ID.

I'd pay long-distance phone rates for all the hours I'd spend being on Prodigy in the early 90s. Maybe $200 in a month??!! I viewed it as a form of entertainment.

I am not sure I should have ETFs of short term bonds. I think I should have deposits in bank with more profit fee, like 2%. What do you think about this?

For me is Money the best desicion. Fast in - fast out.

IAUM / VTI / mostly VBR, AVUV (considering VIOV), FNBGX and actual 30 year LTT’s. I buy as long as duration as possible / SCHO

The reason is basically explained on Tyler’s portfoliocharts.com site. Start date sensitivity, Ulcer Index, return vs ulcer index, etc, etc…

When CEU is the Bloomberg Ticker, then it is this ETF: AMUNDI INDEX MSCI EUROPE ESG BROAD CTB UCITS ETF DR - EUR (C)
Compare this Fund with a normal Europa ETF

The Name "Select" should turn on every Warning Signals
