And her son dances to Bruce Springsteen (Born in the USA, I hope).

Your health care choices should be made by large corporations, not the government.  That is what we stand for.  We close the GAAP.

And she closes with some God & Country platitudes.

Ok, not bad.  She's no Dick Cheney, but she's alright.
I was really hoping for some actual substance. Maybe I just missed it, with with her having a downs syndrome son, being married to a soldier, growing up in a small town, raising animals for 4H, and working at McDonald for college money.

I mean, she seems like a nice, hardworking lady who loves her family. But I was led to believe she was a politician as well so at least part of me was expecting some, I don't know, policies. ::)
Human behavior is economic behavior. The particulars may vary, but competition for limited resources remains a constant.

+1 Just because we all complain and try to make things better doesn't mean we don't know how good we have it. We have it good.

Everything changes, but everything remains the same.  Our state of the union reminds me of this song from the 1960s.

myRA

He talked about it in the state of the union and the next day created it by executive order.  Basically low income, non-Government employee access to the G-Fund in the thrift savings plan.

Based on what I read I think he also intends it to be like the recent change to the 401k law whereby your employer is forced to enroll you automatically unless you specifically opt-out. This would be only for employers without 401k plans.

Whether he can do that by executive authority or not, I don't know. I would hope not.

Did that executive order only make the myRA bonds available for purchase or did it compel business owners without 401k plans to automatically make deductions for their employees if they don't opt out? If the latter then I think he's really gone off the deep end of doing things without legislative approval (not that this would surprise me with Obama but he's really pushing the envelope, I think, if he believes he can issue decrees like that.)
