Netflix junkie

Re: Netflix junkie
I've been binge-watching Money Heist. I originally thought it was just about a bunch of robbers stealing from the government of Spain but in season 4, the genious leader of the group known as "The Professor" decides to bring down the whole lying, corrupt government of Spain while stealing the entire gold reserve. So now it's getting really interesting.
Like most shows of this nature, you have to suspend disbelief and not think about how preposterous the story is but if you can get there it's really good entertainment.

I'm watching They Live on Netflix currently. This movie is older than I am! The premise seems really interesting though.

That the one with the actress with the red hair and green eyes?
Above provided by: Vinny, who always says: "I only regret that I have but one lap to give to my cats." AND "I'm a more-is-more person."

Re: Netflix junkie
Exact same word I'd use to describe her eyes in that movie!
I saw the movie at the theater when it first came out. Love it than as I did when I later saw it at least once (possibly two) more time(s).

Anybody see Better Call Saul this week?
(SPOILERS AHEAD)
Why didn't Kim flag down the cops? I guess because everything she'd done to Howard would come to light? I suppose it would ruin her career. Still, she'd rather murder a guy?

Re: Netflix junkie
not sure, but if you dig animation, Arcane and Love Death+Robots are both quite fun
We also just started watching Iron Chef...but realized we prefer the original (available on Youtube). The show setup is tense enough, there is no need for all the extra shit the new one adds to make it more "exciting".

Jamie Foxx X2 on Netflix
Just saw that Netflix now has Collateral, which is my favorite movie (though this is not a valuable recommendation since I don't watch many movies).
Not nearly as good, but a decent popcorn flix...I also enjoyed the recently released Day Shift.

Re: Netflix junkie
Hah! I have the DVD. I’m not a Tom Cruise fan and it’s totally unrealistic, but for some reason I love the movie.

Yeah, but it’s a great portrait of LA. I have the DVD as well but I’m too lazy to use our DVD player, if it even still works.

Re: Netflix junkie
Our cat knocked the DVD player on the floor. I’m afraid to check it.

Have you considered, even if for a brief moment, sending your cat to Vinny for treatment?

I’m sure Vinny’s a fine cat servant. Our cat wasn’t acting out. She was just playing.

Ohh...we saw that they had Snatch on there and watch it last night. Still brilliant.
Given Guy Ritchie's pushed style, I'm a little surprised it held up over the decades. But hey it works!

Mine are ALL spoiled. Queen and Princesses of the house.

Re: Netflix junkie
I remember watching maybe one season's worth of this show and just finding every episode bizarre and disturbing (in some ways good and bad).
Is 6 any good in your opinion?
The one episode I found striking was that crazy simulated world where the two lovers have to "find" each other and only at the end they realize they were in some kind of simulation at all.

Hey Man, hide that in spoiler tags! Oh right, we don’t have spoiler tags on this forum. At least I don’t think we do.
nope
The episode you mention is one of my favorites. I linked it to my ex girlfriend and she cried.
In my opinion, Black Mirror season 6 is great. And crazy. I’m midway through the 3rd episode now. But I acknowledge that it’s not for everyone. I think my father is still recovering No more recommendations for him from me. He can stick to NCIS.
The only episode that really disturbed me was ‘White Bear’ but 6.2 is pretty creepy.

Awesome! The lady friend is just finishing off watching the Demon Slayer finale tonight, so we're looking for something new. We'll give Black Mirror a spin!dualstow wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 2:58 pm Hey Man, hide that in spoiler tags! Oh right, we don’t have spoiler tags on this forum. At least I don’t think we do.

Re: Netflix junkie
6.3, which is movie length, gets really dark. You might want to give it a pass unless/until you’re in the right mood. And, uh, watch it straight. Really well written and should probably win an award, but it’s not for everyone.

Re: Netflix junkie
I just finished watching Mad Max for the first time ever.
I honestly don’t get the hype. The movie was very meh to me.
I also now especially don’t get why Bogleheads always refer to the “Mad Max scenario” when discussing gold as an investment. Does anyone really think that this corresponds with reality?

Re: Netflix junkie
I have no idea if this is right, but I'd say a Mad Max Scenario insinuates that physical gold is of much higher value than paper money, stocks, bonds, real estate, etc. if an apocolypse or dystopian future happens.Smith1776 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 3:35 am I just finished watching Mad Max for the first time ever.
