				EDIT: link https://www.npr.org/programs/fresh-air/
I suppose this could go in the general
COVID thread, but:
The author of
World War Z who is also some kind of military strategist was on Fresh Air on NPR. He had some interesting things to say, for example: countries with a siege mentality are better equipped to deal with something like the coronavirus because they already have a sense of vulnerability. He listed
S Korea
Taiwan
Israel
“and even Cuba.”
He said the U.S. always gets sucker-punched by events like these but that America is good at rebounding and reinventing itself.
I learned a new initialism: PPE (He said it in the plural, PPEs) = Personal Protective Equipment

That's a common term with first responders/Search and Rescue and such. At least that's where I became familiar with it.

It was interesting to learn about how we had stockpiling until the end of the Cold War. “If this pandemic had occurred in 1965, we’d be all set.”

Listen, kriegsspiel is a smart guy with real military experience. If he *didn’t* roll his eyes at a comedian’s son who lectures at the Naval War College, I would assume there’s a tear in the fabric of the Universe.
Not sure what TLH means here. It took me long enough to learn “tax loss harvesting.”

Btw, unlike with Cuomo’s press conference, I did take notes on the above. Here are some links to things mentioned.
• Defense Production Act

• Nat’l Response Framework

• Army Logistics Branch - not much at the wiki page for that, but there is this sub-branch:

Three Letter Acronym. No wonder you didn't get it, I meant to write TLA. My bad. Ooops.
