I think the difference between a libertarian and liberal these days is the extent to which you permit mainstream media outlets to dictate your thought patterns. It goes along with a deep desire for an authority/parent figure to tell you what to do. Some people find that comforting, while others instinctively recoil from such a concept. It's interesting to me how well that predicts political opinion.

I thought a conservative / libertarian is someone who permits Trump and the popular news (Fox / conservative news gets the best ratings, right?) dictate their thought patterns. Right now, I'm liking Trumps latest move...and in general I'm pretty fiscally conservative. I live on under 15k a year after all, I'm no big spender. I get classified as a communist though because I believe labor needs to negotiate more effectively for themselves...but I digress.
Anyways, I thought it was hilarious to see Tucker Carlson lambasting democrats for being so stingy with the common man suffering from the effects of this pandemic. Now I know Ive seen it all!! His talking points could have literally flowed straight out of Bernie's mouth and no one would have batted an eye.

Ohhh man I haven't seen anything from Queen Ann lately. She is a woman of principle. She wanted the wall and other things promised. Trump didn't deliver and she called him out. She got kicked out of the club.

I'll take Ann over Trump any day, but he's the best we got right now. She's disappointed for the same reasons I am. I think we need him to stop the fraud but he's far, far from ideal as I've said many times.
It is confusing. We are not headed in the right direction. Maybe we really need to go all-in with the communism and take the punishment and hope we can come out the other end. I really don't want us doing that though.
