Asleep at the Wheel in the Headlight Brightness Wars

Post by yankees60 »

Oncoming bright lights at night are definitely an issue for me. You?

Asleep at the Wheel in the Headlight Brightness Wars

The crusade against bright headlights has picked up speed in recent years, in large part due to a couple of Reddit nerds. Could they know what’s best for the auto industry better than the auto industry itself?

I bought some polarized yellow clip-ons that block some of the glaring blue light. That's the worse part about those headlights:

1. the LEDs are more like point sources, so they make lots of glare
2. the spectra are skewed towards blue, so that increased energy hurts our eyes

I have been driving around during the day, and it's fine. I've yet to drive at night with them on. I will let you know.

Mine just arrived yesterday via Amazon. Then I realized that I'll have to wait to try them out when I am wearing my contact lens and not my glasses. If I'm going to be out of the house for a period of time or it's most important I have the best vision ... it's contact lens. Otherwise for short periods of time ... it's glasses.

Been a hard contact lens wearer for 60 years and I still hate putting them in. Also lost one last month went it went down the bathroom sink. Reminding me that I still need to order a replacement
