Schwab and Fidelity halt of BlackRock's money-market fund ETF trades was no shock nor was it a straightforward series of events -- or explanations

But now Schwab has filed with SEC to launch its own MM ETF!

More details on chwab Government Money Market ETF (SGVT):

Government MM funds usually have Treasuries, Treasury Repos, and US Government Agency bonds. These are less safe than pure US Treasury funds, there is incrementally more risk in repo and agencies. Are they more or less safe than bank deposits? Who knows, but if the ETF issuer is getting a "run" and everyone wants to get out for some reason (maybe there is a repo crisis, or one of the agencies defaults and needs to invoke the taxpayer backstop) they absolutely have the power to stop or slow redemptions. So don't keep your 90-day bucket of rent and grocery money in this ETF!

Darn! Schwab SGVT is live, but priced at $100 per share. What good is that? Same as BIL or SGOV. Not a place to park loose change less than $100, because no fractional ETF shares at Schwab. Guess I will keep using SCHO for that.
