Boomerang by Michael Lewis

Post by 6 Iron »

I just finished this book, and wanted to recommend it to those of you that enjoyed "The Big Short". The author goes to Iceland, Greece, Germany, California, etc and talks to many of the involved parties in the economic crises. As always, he does it in an interesting, and easily understood fashion, while looking at some of the cultural factors in play. A quick and easy vacation read.

I read "The Big Short" as my first free book from the Kindle Lending Library with my Amazon Prime subscription. Except for preferring that my investments earn a decent return I have zero interest in things financial but Mr. Lewis did an excellent job of turning the sub-prime mortgage meltdown into an interesting story.

For the record, the movies "Moneyball" and "The Blind Side" are two sports movies also based on his books. I liked "Moneyball" but as I was watching "The Blind Side" I was thinking there is probably something wrong with this picture and have subsequently found out that this is probably true. Probably not Michael Lewis' fault though.

So now "Boomerang" and "Liar's Poker" are on my Amazon wishlist. Neither is yet free.
