That's a strange list.

To comment on one of them, I think that American Airlines is sort of like the Post Office.  It's not going anywhere even if it is completely broken and insolvent.

As far as Avon goes, as long as there are underemployed and unsophisticated women anywhere in the world there should be a market for what Avon does.

Research in Motion is certainly in a world of hurt right now, but it's still the communication device used by more people in business than any other device.  Do they really think that tens of millions of people are going to all stop using these devices in the next 18 months?

Don't understand why Metro PCS would be on the list.  They offer unlimited Internet access to Blackberries and Androids for $50 a month declining to $35 if you pay on time.  AFAIK, no one else matches that.

The offer their explanation for their calls in the linked article.

American Airlines should be helped considerably by the lower fuel prices.

I looked at their lists for previous years, back to 2010.  They don't have a good track record of predictions.  Still, it's interesting to see someone's list of brands they think will die soon.

Avon as a name might be a quiet brand in the USA, but it's a big deal in Latin America, Africa, and Asia--most of the inhabited parts of the planet.

American Airlines is one of those companies that will still be around long after their more nimble competitors have bitten the dust--they're big enough (and connected enough) to be needed for national security.

Me neither.

First, I thought these were franchises?

Second: I thought they pretty much had a lock on selling phones to the down-and-out?
