Fixed rate: 0.00%
Inflation rate: 0.59%

Jeeze, terrible!  At some point short term rates may triumph I-Bonds.  There's already online savings accounts paying a bit north of 1%.

That 1.18%, terrible though it may be, is federal tax deferred and state tax exempt.
