The talking heads on CNBC absolutely try to eviscerate Frank Holmes when he advocates rebalancing back to a 10% allocation in gold. Is this the sign of a bottom?

Wow! That was pretty rough. I have no idea when or where the bottom is. But I will say that the time to mortgage your first born child for money to buy stock was in early 2009 when people were treating the stock market like a radioactive spill. Gold is down by similar percentages from its high. But people who bought gold after that first big dip in the 80's are still crying. So who knows.
Setting all that aside, gold historically has been a lousy long term investment. But it's a terrific insurance policy. One can debate the wisdom of a 25% allocation to insurance. But 10%? I would not be able to sleep with less than that.

I think Madonna's bottom is 10% gold. Or maybe that's her teeth.
