I-Bond Limits: per CALENDAR year?

Newbie question on I-Bonds-
It is pretty well known here that there is a limit on how many ($ worth of) I-Bonds you can buy each year.
But, what is the actual dividing line? Is it the calendar year, or can you also not buy the max amount in bonds within the same 12 months?
Another way to ask: I removed the hardlock from my Treasury Direct account in late 2013 and bough $10K worth of I-Bonds. Let's say it was December. Now it's 2014. If I have another $10K, can I go ahead and buy I-Bonds in March and yet again in early 2015? Or do I have to wait until December 2014?
Maybe I'm influenced by the rigid rules of IRA contributions, but I don't think they apply at all here.
