VSIGX, anyone?

Post by goodasgold »

In keeping with St. Harry B's rule that Federal bonds are safer than corporate bonds, does anyone have an opinion on VSIGX (Vanguard Intermediate-Term Government Bond Index) as part of the VP?

Why? Interest rates are well below historic averages and since 1900 stocks have outperformed bonds in every decade excepting the 1930's and the 2000's. If you are convinced we are heading into another deflationary crisis I could see an argument for bonds. But in that scenario I would be looking at the long end of the curve.
