PENS: Uniball micro--did they ruin a good thing? Alternatives?

My stock has run out and i went to local store to buy more uniball micros and the usual kind I've been buying forever wasn't in the store.  Online it looks like it exists but people complained the blue wasn't the same.  Perhaps the ink quality as well (yah I know improved ink for security purposes).

Is the black as good as it used to be?

Are there pens that are really just as good or better?  Must have fine point and rollerball like.

Thanks.

I am partial to the Pilot Precise V5 in black - http://amzn.com/B00006IEBI.
The reviews say each batch may have one or two bad pens. Hasn't happened to me yet. I discovered these after growing tired of a leaky fountain pen and have never stopped using them since.

The Pilot G2 is inkier and feels more rollerball-like than the above.
