Costco will be ending its exclusive deal with AmEx in 2016.

Actually, I don't think there has ever been a true AmEx exclusivity - you can buy Costco cash cards online using whatever card you want. But now it'll be easier to shop at Costco without these tricks. I'm currently using my Fidelity AmEx at Costco, if they open doors to MasterCard I will probably switch to Citi Double Cash card. Both cards pay 2% unlimited cash back, but MC is accepted everywhere.

Why wouldn't you use the AMEX Blue Cash card? The preferred one gets you 6% back on groceries.

Last I checked (and it has been a good while) the AMEX Blue stuff did not apply to Costco grocery purchases.

Would that it did...

This is what I've been doing.  Not sure it's been worth the 1% or whatever, given additional risks (like losing the card) but whatever -- nice to see I won't have to do the tricks anymore.

has Costco said what action it's members with Amex cards have to take?
