Yay, a non-political thread involving Israel.

Divers stumble across Israel's biggest ever discovery of gold coins

It's the biggest hoard of gold coins ever discovered in Israel -- and it could lead to further archaeological finds.

"There is probably a shipwreck there of an official treasury boat which was on its way to the central government in Egypt with taxes that had been collected," said Kobi Sharvit, director of the Marine Archaeology Unit of the antiquities authority.

Using AdBlock Plus or NoScript addons would prevent it from loading without your permission.  ;)

Yeah, I just have poor man's adblock, though I send a few bucks his way from time to time. Maybe after I find a trove of coins I'll get Plus.

Both are F-R-E-E!

Ha, you beat me to it!!

Adblock Plus rocks.  Also check out "Block Site".  I used that to block stackly.org, which suddenly started putting popups in the middle of every page and making it impossible to read anything online.  Does anyone know what to do with those annoying flash-like popups that popup blockers don't recognize?

I haven't run across popups like that, but it sounds like you might have a browser hijack trojan or something that ignores/overrides any popup blocker settings.  Since you're on a Mac, I can't help you further.

Send me the link the next time you run into one. I want to see if I even get those. (I'm running Mac - Mavericks & Chrome browser).

Ive used adwaremedic http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php to strip adware browser hijackers off a mac.
However I think what you have might be a 'feature' of the Stackly research cataloging and collaboration tool. If it's installed and you don't actively use it, I'd get rid of it. If you do actively use it, read the privacy policy (and weep).

Thanks all!  The popups aren't that common on mac os x but will send a link next time I see one.  Blocksite took care of stackley on my desktop but I probably have a bit of malware installed somehow...even though I'm running sophos on it.

The problem is worst on the iphone, especially because you can't get around those popups.  I'm trying out the Mercury browser.

That looks neat, especially Desktop mode.
