Fox News Channel beats out CNN for America's most trusted cable or broadcast news coverage, and MSNBC lags far behind, even among Democrats, according to new polling done by Quinnipiac University. The poll found 29 percent of people say they trust Fox News' coverage the most, followed by 22 percent for CNN and 10 percent for NBC News and CBS News.

Looks like it's Republicans and independents who put it over the top, coupled with Democrats' inability to unify behind a single perspective.

Better Republicans than Democrats After-The-Fall...

I don't trust any of them.  So what does that make me?

I saw the topic title and thought this must be in honor of Reub until he comes back.

Sounds like a similar result had the question been phrased "which network do you trust the least?" As the democrats would be unified

At one time Fox News was like a breath of fresh when all you had was CNN and the rest of the liberal media marching in lockstep.

They've grown just as stale to me over the years however. No need to tune in any more because what the talking heads have to say about any issue has become absolutely predictable. The steady diet of neoconservative jingoism gets pretty sickening after a while. I'd rather surf the net.

All these news services, including Fox, could be replaced by a text to speech system parroting the same talking points over and over.  Criticizing this practice is a constant theme of the Daily Show.  Here's an old clip that spells it out very clearly (and btw is absolutely hilarious):

And Dave Barry had a column years ago where he hypothesized that TV news was so painfully bad because the hair gel used by TV reporters had penetrated their skulls and destroyed their brains.

Thus, to me they're all equally bad and the poll numbers reflect pretty much a random distribution.  It probably depends more on what show precedes the news, e.g. I'd probably be more likely to watch Fox news if it's right after the Simpsons.  That is, if I wanted to waste time watching TV news.

I think we need a Dan Rather news network.  At least everyone would be clear on what they are getting :-)

It's sad...US news is awful. I still like PBS Newshour though and I just fast forward when they go biased on some stories.

I find that I'm getting more and more of my news from http://slatestarcodex.com. Mostly there's high-level macro stuff and very little of the day-do-day pointlessnesses (like that plane that crashed). I'm gravitating away from unz.com due to its right-wing doom porn tendencies becoming increasingly irritating and bad for my mental health.

I think the big 3 networks could be rolled into one choice on the survey.  When you view it that way, Fox is not so dominant.
