Gold Price Sources

This morning, one of my google sheets said 1270 per ounce. Had Bloomberg on in the background: 1248. So I checked my iphone app: 1245-48. And so on.
No big deal when I'm watching, but I'd hate to think gold was up $50, call my dealer and sell at up $0. I guess I'll have to ask him to read the price out loud when it's time to sell.

It did hit 1270 this morning. Interesting.

I can't remember, what source do you use, Cortopassi?
I forgot to mention, I also used kitco dot com, which is good because it shows the range.
I also forgot to say that a different google sheet said 1260 at the same time that my primary one showed 1270! In fact, they've always been different even though I have the same formula in both cells!

I use Apmex in my google sheet. But I generally look at Kitco otherwise. Both site's graphs show a pop to 1270 about 9AM NY time.
For the price from Apmex:
=Index(ImportHTML("
http://www.apmex.com/","table",1),2,2)

Looks like the price went from $1270 to $1250 quite quickly, Dualstow. Maybe all your sources are not in real time. Just a guess.

Yeah, in the time it took me to go from one source to another.

I think so, too. The only really bizarre thing is the two google sheets w/ the same formula. I'll probably never get to the bottom of that one.

That pop to 1270 corresponds exactly with the drop in the dollar at the same time. Wonder what caused that.

Just out of curiosity, can this work for the personal coin holdings entered into Apmex? It would save time having the latest prices pulled automatically.

Not sure exactly what you're asking but part of my google sheet takes the current gold and silver prices and applies it to my coin holdings (also in google sheets) and rolls up an up to date value.

I have a tab in my Google doc labeled "Gold Prices"
It just has this entry in the A1 cell
=importhtml("
http://www.coloradogold.com/htsell.php","table",5)
These are the colorado gold BID prices. The price they will pay to buy each different type of coin.
In my other tabs, I reference these prices against my individual holdings. That gives me an up to date number of what I could sell everything for.
