Re: Portfolio Charts & Hedged Bonds

Small bit of googling fixed income options in Australia. I would be tempted by the 5 year term deposits from Judo Bank. I don't know if there is a catch but the government guaranteed rate is almost twice that of the 5 year bond. https://www.judo.bank/personal-term-deposit Thanks for your detective ...

Can anyone confirm if this post from Martin Armstrong is true? Easy enough to test if you've had the shot. ???

Re: Portfolio Charts & Hedged Bonds

Thanks Tyler and Whatchamacallit.

No EE bonds in Australia - Just standard treasury bonds and TIPS, though back in the 80's they used to have "Aussie Bonds".

Portfolio Charts & Hedged Bonds

Just a quick query. Was wondering how to best model a portfolio containing hedged international bonds.

For example, if you live in Australia and wanted to model 50/50 Developed World TSM & Dev World IT, would setting the home country to USA give a more accurate result due to the currency hedge?

Re: Rebalancing into more LTT

Following from Mathjaks comments..... If you don't like LT treasuries, combining Ben Grahams 50/50 TSM & 10 Year Bonds with Harrys 25% Gold Allocation gives quite good results. PS: Guessing most of you know all about bonds, but found the segment at the 23:30 min mark interesting https://www.youtube....

Wellesley and some gold , is a nice mix.

While I don’t use Wellesley my final model is close in allocation
Hi Mathjak,

What percentage gold allocation would you use for the Wellesley approach?
Would it be 35% as BelangP suggests...

Re: PP-Inspired Portfolios

While many who post on these forum are dyed-in-the-wool PP adherents (and I totally respect that choice) there are also (from what I can tell) a fair number of GB fans and many others who implement some but not all of the PP assets and/or percentages. I thought it'd be interesting to discuss real-w...

His booklet is riddled with nonsense, but that dude lived a wild life. I love reading all of the old time pioneers. Re: Permanent Portfolio concept continues to live on

I see no safety in the pp anymore ..I see it as a more volatile asset choice as asset classes move together at the same time in one direction or another behaving with the volatility at times of a 75% equities portfolio. I think equities and some gold are a better choice for the times ahead . Any bo...

Re: Permanent Portfolio concept continues to live on

By the way, I've recently been one of the PP doubters. As I mentioned in another thread recently, I've been seriously doubting the value of the LTT piece of the PP now that the remarkably linear trend line for 30-year Treasury yield over the past 40 years is now approaching zero. Hi Tortoise, This ...

Possibly explains why I weigh almost ten less pounds today than I did a year ago (155.4 then, 145.8 today)? I have been in the PP (more or less) for a few years and it seems to have returned about what I would have expected. This year I have seriously started questioning it going forward.
