Re: Defensive moves when lunatics are running the asylum?

There is a good argument that it truly is different this time. Different in the sense that the Fed is being presented with a Hobson's choice from which there is likely no good outcome--and different in the sense that the global elite appear to actually be TRYING to take down the economy. That said,...

Forgive me, but I'm having a hard time understanding why this ChatBot thing is anything but a glorified version of my long-lost doll. At least Chatty Cathy had something edifying to say. Well, they still sell Talky Tina ::) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bc9HtdMDvZM No explanation needed for Twili...

I strongly suggest the kitces video for understanding this fact . It should be required watching for anyone who wants to understand just what the term means https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sUl_04g-CQ Thanks Mathjak, you've persuaded me to watch Kitces! I would imagine then it would still be safer ...

Adding some cash to Seajays allocation, say 50% SCV, 25% Gold (2:1 ratio) and 25% Cash gives *drumroll* 6.1% SWR.

Re: Solution for those on the fence between bogle or browne

As a UK based investor, Pounds in UK home, US dollars invested in US stock, gold non-fiat global currency is broad enough currency and asset diversity. As well as reduced counter-party risk (house and gold in-hand). Similar to what the Talmud advocated millennia ago. Not a terrible choice. If you a...

There are some old games I really want to play. Shogo, Rainbox Six, Swat 2, Warcraft 2, and others. I was thinking of buying an old Windows XP machine so that I could play them natively again. Have you used an emulator and played them non-natively? Yeah... it's just not the same. There's almost alw...

...Sound Blaster I remember when I first got into PC building (this was like 2005 or so), it was a serious faux pas amongst enthusiasts to use onboard audio. but I do wonder what the defensive move(s) (if any) might be for PP or GB'ers holding nothing but Treasury debt. Maybe hold some international/corporate bonds? Is there a US version of something like this? => https://fund-docs.vanguard.com/ETF-Vanguard_Global_Aggregate_Bond_Index_Hedged_ETF_8200_FS...

Developed RE are extremely correlated with Developed Equities. The 'Jacob the Rich' Portfolio is PP like. 25% Gold 25% Sovereigns (long duration for the volitility???) 25% Equities 25% RE I've always maintained that HB derived his portfolio with full knowledge of the aforementioned portfolio. That'...

Re: Oxford Uni talk "Understanding Money"

If you accept the premise that "this time is different," does the PP continue to make sense? It puzzles me that between this forum and the Bogleheads, there are a lot of smart people who don't seem to be terribly concerned about the big picture. Sometimes I wish that one of those people would addre...

Hi buddies, I have an EU-PP because I live in europe. :-\ Perhaps diversify internationally, say ~ 17% Gold, 83% https://fund-docs.vanguard.com/LifeStrategy_20_Equity_UCITS_ETF_EUR_Accumulating_9490_NETH_INT_DU.pdf ? You get some exposure to US treasuries that way. And no I can't read Dutch, ;D jus...

Re: 25 x 4 or 33 x 3

OK, so HB said cash was for a "Tight money recession" (ie High interest rates to slow the economy) Not sure where you live, but if interest rates are low, then cash won't be doing much for you. But then in a balanced portfolio, there will always be one asset class not doing well. eg bonds during inf...
