Texas Precious Metals is about an hour away in Shiner Texas.  One benefit of going there is to drive across the street to the Spoetzel Brewery for some Shiner Bock Beer. 

Provident Precious Metals is in Dallas is the other major gold dealer in Texas.

I have had a very good experience with Texas Precious Metals; I believe they allow you to pick up at their sales office with advance notice, but I had my order shipped direct. 

I've picked up a couple of 1/10oz coins from Liquid Bullion off I-10, so that is also an option if you want to deal locally, but I found the prices to be much better through Texas Precious Metals, so went with them on a subsequent order.

With Texas Precious Metals, I was emailing back and forth with their COO at about 9PM on a Friday night; UPS was late to deliver my package, so I sent an email to customer service.  He replied and told me they would intervene if necessary...luckily, the driver arrived that night.
