Harry Browne in Playboy's Book Club - circa 1975

Post by ozzy »

Hi all,

Fun fact - I obtained a Playboy magazine from February 1975.  Page 16 is an advertisement for "Playboy Book Club Offer", here's the scanned page:

As I perused the books shown I was very pleased that the great Harry Browne was listed amongst such classy companions! HAHA.  His book “You can profit from a monetary crisis”? is part of a motley crew.  Gotta love it!  ;D

ha! Tucked in among Lenny Bruce, the mafia, and "total orgasm."
Good find!

I've always thought  that "Best Laid Plans" would appeal to Hef.

You obtained it for the articles, right?  :)

When I was about 14 my mom was so concerned about my lack of interest in the written word that she offered to get me a subscription to Playboy because "It contains excellent literature." The offer was so confusing coming from my mother that I declined. A poorly developed brain in a couple of ways.

Years later, when I finally bought a playboy magazine myself, I did the old routine of "I'll take these candy bars, several rolls of paper towels, this Playboy, and how about some of those crampons over there?"

Wait, you mean you've actually had this thought?

You can always count on The Simpsons for quotable stuff:

Homer: "Yeah, um, give me one of those porno magazines, a large box of condoms, a bottle of Old Harper, a box of panty shields... and some illegal fireworks... and one of those disposable enemas. You know what? Make it two."

Marge: "Whatever you're planning for tonight, count me out."

No, no, no. I'm just playing on the word "laid".  ;)

This thread is bound to be rather short as most of the usual wise-cracking suspects have weighed in. Or do I misjudge the forum readership?

Was there some deep meaning that warrants a lengthier thread?
