Free at last!
I've been wanting to quit my day job but kept at it due to wanting the money slightly more than I wanted the time to work on my own project.
They have made the decision for me; today is my last day.
All I can say is... Yee-haw!

Congratulations. I turned 66 8 days ago and I've been hoping they'd do the same for me but instead they seem to be intent on dumping even more work on me.Libertarian666 wrote: I've been wanting to quit my day job but kept at it due to wanting the money slightly more than I wanted the time to work on my own project.

Congrats! Freedom is intoxicating. Don't get too drunk all at once.

What's the biggest difference between 46 and 66? Serious question.

In the context of human age, 20 years of experience, 20 years to enjoy life, hopefully 20 years of accumulated wisdom, a lot of wrinkles, 20 years of learning what is truly important, 20 years of spousal love (my case). The list is actually endless for practical purposes.MediumTex wrote: What's the biggest difference between 46 and 66? Serious question.

The biggest difference for me is mostly in the neck and spine.MediumTex wrote: What's the biggest difference between 46 and 66? Serious question.

Half and Half but glad somebody appreciates my humor. Even my wife doesn't get it most of the time.Desert wrote:madbean2 wrote:The biggest difference for me is mostly in the neck and spine.MediumTex wrote: What's the biggest difference between 46 and 66? When you feel the pains at 46 you joke about getting old. At 66, you finally realize they ain't no joke.Mountaineer wrote:Welcome to the club.madbean2 wrote:Half and Half but glad somebody appreciates my humor. But to be completely serious about the question, apart from the physical aspects (including having more money) I don't see a whole lot of difference.

My current plan is to retire on my 68th birthday, slightly less than 2 years from now regardless of what my own financial planning program tells me. If I reach my financial goals before then I will retire (and I would like to although I haven't figured out yet what I will do with myself). Since I am only looking at the portfolio once a year you can ask me how I am doing next January or February.Desert wrote: madbean, do you have retirement date in mind, or do you plan to work for quite a while longer?
I'm married to a woman 17 years younger than I am and she still wants to work so that is a big part of my decision to keep working, plus the fact that there is a lot of longevity in my family. But my program tells me I could do it right now if I had to so, like Libertarian666, if they made the decision for me I would probably come happier than a pig in shit.

No, seriously? Hmm. I would say, realizing that there isn't unlimited left to accomplish whatever I'm going to accomplish.
Not that I ever thought it was really unlimited, of course, but the limits seem a lot closer now.

No, if I did that I would have another project to distract me from my real work...MachineGhost wrote:Congrats!
