Forum Leadership - Who they are and what they do

Post by Greg »

Greetings all. This is more of a general question so that I (and everyone else), understands how things are structured here in case we have any specific questions for who to direct them to.

As far as I know:

Craigr and MediumTex: Both are the Administrators. They are the ones that host the website and are responsible for moderation to a certain extent as well as they are the final authority on banning members. They also have all the privileges that the Global Moderators have if they so choose.

l82start and TennPaGa: Both are Global Moderators: They have the ability to merge threads, delete threads, lock threads, and keep order/moderation within the website.

Global Moderators were brought on due to monitoring this forum takes a lot of time and more hands were needed.

Is there anything I'm missing or have incorrect? Thanks.

Also for MediumTex, he has "PP Explorers Club" under his avatar picture. What is that?

The PP Explorers Club is a very exclusive organization devoted to excellence in the understanding of the universe of PP-related topics.

I would say that the leaders here are those who post the most interesting, compelling and stimulating stuff.

The people with mod and admin controls are more like janitors really.

I think that the current mods and admins ARE leaders, but not because they are mods and admins, but rather because they are all long term members of the forum who have consistently pushed the discussions forward.

I take tremendous pride in what we have here, and thanks to everyone for helping to make it such an interesting place to read about and discuss a whole constellation of topics, not just the PP.

I'd do the +1 stuff like the rest of you lemmings, but, instead, a hearty AMEN!  ;D

The application process typically takes 3-6 months, but I can probably fast track it and get you in today.

Just go into your forum profile and add the following in the Personal Text box: "PP Explorers Club".

It's very exclusive, though, so just remember that.

I believe it was Groucho Marx who said "I would never join any club that would have me as a member."

I think that's the exact quote.
