Have you seen Real Humans/ Äkta Människor?
Does the name Nyska have any kind of meaning?
Also, is it a nickname for something longer?

Interesting, thank you. In the American remake of 'The Killing' (the original of which was Danish, not Swedish), a lot of the names looked Danish to me and I assumed they were retained, e.g. Larsen.
Even though Nyska/Niska has that Russian or Slavic dimunitive -ka- at the end, I thought that this show kept the Swedish names intact. Looking more closely, maybe it's just the humans that have Swedish names and not the androids. (Nyska is an android).

What's with Hollywood and remakes? Never heard of subtitles? I was very confused seing quarantine last year, having seen REC several years earlier, but forgot about it. Deja vu the whole movie.
Let Me In didn't feel like it added to Lt Den rtte Komma in.

I fully agree, and it seems like American movie makers don't trust Americans to enjoy a film with subtitles. (And maybe they don't in theaters; I don't know). It's as frustrating as Chinese restaurants with gloopy orange sauce on everything instead of the authentic seasonings, but at least we're finally coming around in that department. Well, maybe it's just easier to remake shows than to come up with original ideas.AnotherSwede wrote: What's with Hollywood and remakes? Never heard of subtitles?
For what it's worth, I thoroughly enjoyed 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' with subtitles. My wife and I walked into the theater and chose it at random, not having heard of it before. To this day, I haven't seen the remake.
The joint UK-US version of of Akta Manniskor, 'Humans' is pretty good because of the superb acting. Just not as compelling as the original, which itself seems to have borrowed heavily from a Japanese anime called 'Time of Eve.'

It makes sense that if every other good movie is made in your language, and the other half remade, you demand spoken english.
Will watch first ep of Äkta människor, scandinavian version of course
I think you miss much only watching english language movies.
