Barrick’s cyanide solution spill five times larger
Company’s own new figures show leak had been massively underestimated
The amount of cyanide solution that spilled from Barrick Gold’s Veladero mine in San Juan province is almost five times more than previously believed, the company acknowledged yesterday as a second federal prosecutor moved to investigate national and provincial officials and mining executives amid growing environmental concerns.
As far as I'm concerned, all gold mining should stop right now. We have plenty of gold for all of its uses, and the environmental impact of gold mining is horrendous.
Didn't our very own federal government do the same thing in the Silverton/Durango area recently? They were saying within days that everything was fine again.

I remember the pictures of kayaks on yellow water, but I googled it to make sure that's what you were talking about. Forgot that it was the Environmental Protection Agency that did that!

One would only want that if one held 100% of their portfolio in gold.
I don't have 100% in gold, but I still want that. So there!
